WORST EXPERIENCE EVER & RUINED BIRTHDAY! We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We had reservations and were seated promptly at an outdoor table with a beautiful view, our drink and appetizer orders were taken within a reasonable amount of time. However, that is where anything good about our dining experience ends. Our waiter took our orders and then he NEVER came back to check on us. He never refilled our water or other beverages. Never checked to see how our food was or if we needed anything else. Twice we had to flag down other staff to ask for our waiter. Our food was presented within a reasonable amount of time, however our daughter's filet mignon, which she ordered rare/medium rare, was overcooked to medium. We again had to flag down someone to get our waiter. He took her plate and said they would make it right. Mind you, she ordered her filet rare/medium rare which should only take about 3 minutes per side to cook properly. 25 minutes later her replacement plate arrived, and the filet was cooked to well done this time! Absolutely ridiculous! The waiter had her cut it in front of him and he didn't know what to do, so we asked for the manager. The manager, Julie I believe her name was, came over and we explained the situation to which she rolled her eyes and proceeded to argue with us about everything! She took the plate, said she would take care of it, and stormed off with a terrible attitude to us. After an additional thirty minutes of being ignored, I asked my husband to please find the manager and figure this out. By this point we just wanted to pay our bill and leave. My husband went to the area where the manager could be found, and she proceeded to argue with him and roll her eyes at him and basically refused to make things right. My husband asked if the owner was in to which Julie said he had just left, but that she had already spoken to him and that he also agreed with her that the filet was not overcooked. She continued to argue and have a bad attitude. My husband then asked for the bill, and Julie removed my daughters order from it. He asked her to please add the ruined dinner back to our bill, as this issue was not about the money but rather about principle, horrible service and customer service, and a ruined birthday dinner. We paid the bill and left, and we will never go back. Honestly, the food the rest of us had was decent, but to be treated so poorly by the manager is just abhorrent. We are not really picky people, we understand that everyone has an "off" day, but this was bordering on abuse. All my daughter wanted was her filet mignon cooked rare/medium rare (not medium, not medium well, not well done). None of us deserved to be treated with...
Read moreI have eaten at this place numerous times with clients and friends. This year wanted to do something different for My Mom than regular Westside Restaurants so I decided to get her a room for a few nights at the Four Seasons Westlake and then take her to dinner here. I made the reservation a week prior and was excited to have her experience the atmosphere at this nice restaurant by the water.
On the way to pick them up at the hotel, I encountered an accident of Lindero Cyn prior to my exit which stalled me a few mins... so I had my brother call and let them know we would be a few mins late. They said not to worry take our time and just be safe. Then I personally received a call from the restaurant saying if we don't get there in 5 mins we can no longer sit,. I told them we were literally 5 mins away. Mind you the reservation was for 7:30 PM .. apparently, they said they give you 10 mins grace period. We got to the front desk at 7:42...2 mins over the grace period ..even after we called and they had said we were okay. Well, we got there and the host told us they could not sit us. I asked to speak to the manager and he said it was too late and that the kitchen closed at 7:30 pm and that he had spoken to the kitchen and they weren open to cooking after 7:30 pm. What is quite strange is that our reservation was at 7:30 pm and don't they still have to take an order from you and cook the food? so that makes no sense when he says the kitchen closed at 7:30 pm.
I tried to explain to him that I flew my mom down just for Mother's Day and dinner... and I could clearly see in front of me many open tables. I even asked if I could speak to the kitchen and he said he couldn't allow me back there.
As an owner of a PR firm and having to deal with people and traveled the world throughout my career... I have never been treated in such a manner. I couldn't believe that even after I pleaded with him not to do this on Mother's Day he just didn't care. I was told that you accommodate the clientele...guess they have a different motto here. Luckily the restaurant Cosa Nostra up the street accommodated us and my Mother was able to have a good Mother's...
Read moreI had high hopes for a memorable dining experience at Boccaccio’s, expecting a place that could deliver both excitement and quality. Sadly, my visit was one of the most disappointing and frustrating experiences I’ve ever had in a restaurant. From start to finish, the service was abysmally poor, reflecting a severe lack of management and organization.
The staff was unhelpful and dismissive. My waiter was not accommodating at all; I found myself having to ask other waitresses for basic essentials like bread and napkins. To make matters worse, our food took over 45 minutes to arrive, despite the restaurant being busy but not at an unmanageable level. The long wait, combined with the indifferent attitude of the staff, made the experience utterly dissatisfying and unacceptable.
Frustrated, I requested to speak with a manager. When he arrived, I explained everything—from the slow service to the lack of attentiveness. While the manager was courteous and understanding, it did little to salvage the experience. I ultimately decided to cancel my order, and he apologized sincerely, offering compensation for our drinks. Despite that, the damage was done. The entire ordeal left me feeling disrespected, disappointed, and frankly, offended.
What struck me most was how this chaos seemed to stem from a restaurant that is clearly overwhelmed and over capacity—over their heads when it comes to managing the volume of customers. The lack of control and professionalism was glaring, and it’s evident that proper training and oversight are severely lacking.
Given the level of disorganization and poor service, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Boccaccio’s to anyone. This place has significant room for improvement, and until they address their management and staffing issues, I suggest avoiding it altogether. A restaurant that cannot handle its own volume or treat its guests with respect is a disgrace to the...
