Stella Mia Ristorante — Restaurant in Westlake

Have been here numerous times (including for several years for my birthday) and also had take out that was very good. Came here with a group of six for my birthday. I always order the same dish so I know the usual standard. I ordered Pasta Carbonara minus the bacon (I do not eat pork), so extra caramelized onions in lieu of the bacon. First, the dish had to be remade because it was made with bacon. Mistakes happen, so I was okay with this. Dish came, chicken was really not grilled which I was willing to overlook. There were literally only a few small pieces of onion that were sautéed, not caramelized. This would not have even been the normal portion. With no bacon, this would be where the flavor comes from.

I took the dish to the counter to speak with the server. She said she already mentioned the onions and was told “they blend in with the pasta”. I showed her the lack of onions and I let her know that I get this dish all the time and this is the worst I have seen.

I asked for a manager and was told there was none, only the owner who made the dish. By this time, my family was most of the way through their meals. I asked for the caramelized onions to be added to the dish and I would have to get it to go. I have never encountered such disregard from an owner or manager. I have family in the restaurant business, and I know how these situations should be handled The dish was taken off the bill, however, I would have much rather enjoyed being able to eat with my family for my birthday. If you would have asked me to review Stella Mias a few months ago, it would have been 5 stars all across the board. The food is delicious hands down, still is. However the last few months Stella Mias has been on a steady decline in my eyes. Started off when they removed their original delicious beer battered fries, you could get 1lbs for $5. They replaced them with a lesser quality fry and raised the price. Now a few months later you can't even order a side of fries anymore. And now the portion sizes of the meals are smaller. I've ordered the same meal everytime I come and it's always been the same big size. This time around I order the same gnocchi meal, same price, yet half the size in what used to be the sides container. Plus, they are never open anymore either, their open hours for the entire week don't exceed 20hrs in a 7 day span. It's a shame, what once was one of my favorite restaurants has been on a steady decline, cutting corners giving out less quality and quantity food. If there's new ownership or management, my suggestion, go back to how things were a few months ago. Because your business strategies are ruining a very great restaurant. The flavor is still there in the food and you still have customers, don't continue to push people away by changing what made your restaurant great in the beginning. I made reservations for my friend's birthday on June 29. When we arrived there were 3 tables with customers. After we were seated a young man brought a basket of 4 very thin slices of bread with 2 pats of butter. We waited for about 20 min to order. We called the young man back to get us more bread and his response was "what's up ", really? We ordered Seafood Putanesca and Pasta Di Mare. I very specifically told the server "No olives" and what do I see in my dish? Olives! I also see mussels that aren't opened in my dish! The seafood was frozen and all over cooked. It wasn't edible! My friend's dish was better, but lacked any lobster and had very little shrimp. After another 30 min passed the server finally came back and asked how our meal was. I told her it is terrible. She just stood silent, no apology or didn't ask if she could offer me something else. She just said I'll take that away. She came back 10 min later and said my meal was taken off the check. Still no apology! What a horrible experience. I will never return there again. I did however find a fantastic Italian restaurant in Strongsville called Bucci J Bella...5* amazing food, service...
