Cafe 27 Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Weston

We stopped by this cafe for a late lunch while site seeing and after researching places that offered alligator bites(we struggled to find many options nearby). When we arrived, it was quite windy and unseasonably cool. Being an outdoor restuarant/bar, there were not a lot of customers (1 or 2 other tables with 4 people or less and than our group of 8). It took a bit longer than I expected to get drinks ordered, but the appetizers came fast. The gator bites and fried plantains were DELICIOUS! Unfortunately, that was about as good as it gets. I got the breaded Mahi fish sandwich at "market price", expecting fairly fresh caught fish, but recieved fish that I would expect from a freezer bag of Gortons from the supermarket. I also paid extra to have onion rings as my side but was only able to eat a few, as the rest were way overcooked. Once the check came, it was all on one bill instead of 4 separate bill's as requested and ended up being a bit complicated due to a language barrier between us and our waitress. Also note that their is a disclaimer on the menu that there is an 18% gratuity added to your bill, which in my opinion, is a sure sign they are not confident in either their food, service or both. I will say a few others in the group agreed with the overall experience, while others really enjoyed their food. I will say the prices are just ok. My wife had 2 mixed drinks, I had 1 beer, each of us had a sandwich, got 1 order of gator bites as an app and after the built in gratuity our total was just over $80. I have been to cafe 27 before. I came in with a group of girls of at least 40+, so the group was big. I had to hunt down the waitress so that she could take our order now. Cafe27 had knowledge we were coming thru. Maybe a bit of more waitress on that particular day would've been a big changer on my 3 star, but as I said, hunting the waitress, she took our order chicken tenders were good. now, the loaded nachos have to be worse I've ever had. Chili bean tasted out of can I didn't eat. Margarita was on point. Big thanks to Cafe 27 for lavishing us with free Mimosas but I got a sour taste when my check came so this waitress who I had to look for to order and then pay because she was all over the place gave me my check I want to say she forgot to say here tip is included on the tab but I didn't see it and I gave her a 18% tip I then realized she got a 36% tip because she already had it on the tab. I'm sorry if you take care of me I have no issue giving a good tip but she didn't go above a beyond for a 36% I understand they work for tips and ppl sometimes don't appreciate but not everyone is like that and I think it was sneaky of her. she didn't even ask why the loaded nachos hadn't been touched.
