TL;DR - Horrible service, misrepresent info on the phone, treat customers very bad, unfriendly and are extremely unprofessional, bad equipment.
There are so many place to rent from. Look elsewhere and avoid this one at all costs. Don't be fooled by a high rating of this business on Google like we were. Probably family and friends.
Read on for details.
We booked the service by phone for the day before New Years. There were 4 adults and a kid. On the phone we specifically asked if the kid can go with us on one of the jet skis. They only asked us how old the kid was and then said that the kid can go as long as he is with one adult and not two so we would have to book 3 jet skis. So we did.
On the day of the rental we arrived on time but waited for around 20-30 mins before a pontoon boat arrived to pick us up. There were other people also waiting for them. The lady on the boat told us they cannot pick all of us up at the same time so they would pick those people first and then come back for us (WTH??).
Then the lady told us that the kid was too small and would have to wait on the pontoon boat. We said that we specifically asked on the phone if the kid could go with us and that was the reason we rented 3 jet skis for 2 couples as we were told. She said that the kid must be able to reach the floor of the jet ski with his feet. We said nobody has ever told that to us on the phone. She told us to wait and for the next pontoon. We waited again. The next pontoon boat finally had arrived around 20-30 mins later.
We arrived at some kind of a floating platform in the middle of nowhere. A guy named JD told us he will check if the kid could reach the floor of the jet ski even though we repeated many times that this was never communicated to us over the phone and that was the reason we rented 3 jet skis and wasted all this time to arrive.
The kid didn't reach the floor of the jet ski. JD told us that it was not allowed but he could let us go if we were careful. We said we would be as my friend is really cautions about his son's safety. We all embarked on the 3 jet skis and wanted to finally get going. Then JD told my friend that the kid cannot sit in front of him. To which my friend responded that he doesn’t feel like it was safe to let the kid sit behind him. He would feel much safer if his son is in front of him. Everything was told in a calm and respectful manner. Then JD just told us to get off the jet skis and that we are not going anywhere. None of us! I genuinely didn’t understand what happened and asked JD and he said that my friend was giving him attitude. I heard the conversation and told JD that my friend was just worried about his kid’s safety and it had nothing to do with giving attitude. Again in a very calm manner. JD didn’t care he told us get off the jet skis. The kid started crying as he couldn’t understand what was happening and thought he was the reason of bad things happening. After that I couldn’t hold my temper anymore and told JD that I couldn’t believe we wasted all this time on the day before New Years just to be treated like sh*t and hoped that gets the same treatment everywhere he goes. Then we had to wait again for the pontoon boat to arrive to take us back.
They did refund us the money but the result is wasted a lot of time (3 hours overall), unnecessary stress, spoiled New Years eve, a kid in tears and money spent on parking two cars. All because of someone’s huge ego, unprofessionalism, incompetence and in general horrible service from every single staff member they have (except the lady that processed the documents, she was ok). By the way the jet skis were pretty old and looked extremely worn (photo attached) even though they said they were new...
Read moreI am not quick to leave reviews, especially poor reviews, but I find it necessary for the safety of others. We had a lovely time on the actual jet ski portion of the trip. However, the logistics leading up and the end to our experience have led to this comment.
To improve, there needs to be better communication from the company about the waiver forms and boating test. Having to complete those at arrival was disorganized and not professional. Also, when we arrived there was no place to “check-in.” Ryan’s girlfriend was waiting on the steps for us in no uniform. She told us where to sit and then had us start paperwork while we waited. The leaving/returning time was scattered (due to rain). But again, communication and professionalism goes a long way. The workers were very sweet and kind! Truly, so nice and easy to talk to. But when you conduct business you want to know you are in good hands. As someone else left in a review, an extra $20 was tagged on once we were on the boat. I should have asked what it was for which was my own error. Then came the storms…as another review mentioned. I have grown up on a boat and understand tropical storms. But when you are a business you MUST make your customers feel safe first. First, we should not have been on the jet skis when the storms hit. Second, people were still being taken out on the jet skis in the middle of a terrible storm. Third, we should not have to beg to leave. Once on the boat attempting to return, the storm was intense. Wind pelting, rain blowing, large waves, thunder, the whole typical storm. Ladies were crying and people were scared because of the lack of safety. The main goal should have been to get to shore, not to go back to the original docking spot.
I leave this long winded review for the sake of protecting someone else and hoping the owners make some necessary adjustments. Situations like the one we experienced are when liabilities happen and someone gets hurt..or worse. PLEASE, make this business awesome by putting customer safety first! You all are so sweet and there is great potential. But without your customer safety, incidents like this could end up hurting you...
Read moreUpdate: BJM lied in their response by saying we were intoxicated. This is unethical! Added screenshots to show we never met them in person and only talked over the phone. Also to show we had a confirmation of a reservation. Do not patronize this business.
Very rude, condescending, and very unprofessional. As a business owner, I’m appalled.
We spent $45 on a Lyft round trip and waited 40 minutes to be disrespected and talked down to like we aren’t paying customers. Found another place with better service AND prices. Extreme Jet Ski Tours is just $99 for 90 mins.
Here’s our experience:
We searched google for a jet ski place and BJM popped up with very good reviews which made us want to book. We went to website which allowed us to text with questions. We sent a text asking about the experience and if we could book in the next 30 mins. They said yes and we have our name and said we were in the way. They texted us the directions and instructions and to call when we got there.
We called when we arrived and a man named JB told us to wait at the pier he would be there in 10 mins. 30 mins later no show. We call and he says he got caught up and will be there in 10 mins.
10 mins later they text us with instructions to find them. I call to confirm where they are and this time it’s a woman on the phone. She was talking to someone else while on the phone with me. Then when I told her I couldn’t find her she yelled very rudely saying, “You need to listen to me.” At this point I’m right in front of her and I did not feel comfortable going on the trip after she was so rude to us.
I told her that and she said “we never had a reservation because we didn’t book online.” We weren’t told we had to book online. The confirmed to us in a text that we could rent in the next 30 mins.
We left after being treated so poorly and rented jet skis from Extreme Jet Ski Tours which is cheaper, has better customer service and...
