Perry's Bakery — Restaurant in Westport

I happened upon this little gem whilst on my way to visit my son at UMASS/Dartmouth. I had been curious about what was down that little road. And I am a sucker for obscure looking places.

You really need to go inside to get a real flavor for what Perry's has to offer. I fell in love with the sour cream sticks. I was going to take a picture of it to post but I couldn't keep it from jumping into my mouth, so I had to eat it. It is SUPERB. I know my bakery, folks. And the other offerings are all from scratch, not just some bake off from some other vendor. This is the real deal.

Friendly folks, a cuppa good joe (I know my joe, too), and I am on my way. And after I tried that first bite of the sour cream stick, I knew I should have bought whatever was left. Shoot!

I’ve actually never stepped foot into this bakery, but judging by what my niece experienced in her short time working there, I will absolutely NEVER bother with this place. My niece is 16, still in school and was working around her mother’s work hours as well. When she spoke to Karen, Karen gave her backlash about how people would keep quitting on her because my niece couldn’t keep her hours, which she already explained the reason why, being that her mother also works similar hours. Karen then denied that my niece had told her anything, and then had the audacity to make a comment about my niece’s relationship with her mother, “you must not have a good relationship then. Do you guys not communicate?” WHO makes a comment like this to an employee?! Who crosses a line like that? I stopped at Perry's this morning hoping to get some gluten free pastries. Unfortunately, the young woman behind the counter told me they stopped their gluten free goods because they were not selling enough and going to waste.

While I was disappointed, I still picked up a delicious looking raspberry bear claw for my friend. The young woman working there was bubbly, genuine and it was great to receive such a perky "good morning".
