My wife and I went there for our anniversary this past Sunday. From the moment we entered, we knew this was the place to get a burger, as we could smell the burgers cooking. Our server (whose name I have forgotten, my apologies) was a lovely young lady who made us feel right at home. She was very attentive and well informed on the menu. She did not pressure us to make selections, but took her time and helped us choose, which was especially helpful for dessert.
We started with the spicy pickle fries, then I had the MOAB Jr. and she had the Jody burger. Mine was a full two patties, 8 oz.; hers was a single patty, 4 oz. I had fries while she had the onion rings. For dessert we had the apple caramel cheesecake. I had unsweet tea to drink and she had an Arnold Palmer.
The pickle fries are battered fried pickle spears. These were a tad on the salty side for me, but my wife enjoyed them. They had a crisp light batter, more like an onion ring batter than a tempura. Very good, quite solid, served with ranch.
I found the MOAB Jr. quite sufficient. A hearty two patties, smashed together, this was much more a pub-style burger, thick but with some crisping on the edges. The burger was nicely done to medium; we did not get to choose the level of doneness, which is understandable with ground meats. The cheese was standard American, perfect for this. The bacon was nicely done, holding a good crunch against the rest of the sandwich. They were out of tomatoes, but the "dressings" on the burger were nice and fresh. The buns were brioche-style and very thick, not heavy, with a nice chew, definitely not a Sunbeam/Wonder bun. The fries were hand cut and double cooked, or if not, I really want to know who the supplier is. Light and crispy on the outside, fluffy and hot on the inside.
My wife's Jody burger was substantially smaller then the MOAB Jr., of course. At what I would guess is 4 oz., it was a true smash burger, with crispy edges and a thinner patty. It comes with cream cheese, roasted poblano, and jalapeno. She enjoyed it, but said that the cream cheese was a bit heavy and the peppers were not to her level of spice. The onion rings were superb, with that same traditional batter, very crisp and delicious. The batter stayed firmly on the onion rings, even when piping hot, so she wasn't left with a tube of batter and a quickly-cooling soggy onion strip, which is saying a lot in my opinion. They were served with ranch dressing.
What my wife TRULY raved about was the dessert-- the apple caramel cheesecake. A slice of cheesecake, with a graham cracker style crust, drizzled with caramel. Very good flavor, tasted to me like the old fashioned maple candy rather than an apple pie or a traditional cheesecake. I might not have it again, but my wife definitely will.
The servings are large, so expect to take fries home, and the burgers are outstanding (but don't sell the fries, onion rings, or desserts short!)
All in all, we had a wonderful experience and highly recommend...
Read moreEntered here for lunch as I have been wanting to give them a try since they opened. We first tried to order “to-go” on a Sunday but they informed us that they were not taking any “to-go” orders today. So, we decided to head there and eat in. The building (even under previous restaurants) still seems to struggle with keeping the place cool. It wasn’t unbearable but I’m a big guy and like my air conditioning. Others may find it just fine. When we first got there they said it was going to be about a 30 minute wait but ended up being maybe 15 to 20. However, I think they cost themselves some business because at least 3 groups of people who came in after us, turned around and left after they were informed of the wait time. They looked as if they were short-handed for the day. We weren’t extremely hungry so between the three of us we ordered a Jr. MOAB Burger with fries. We also ordered 20 wings some lemon pepper and some buffalo. The wings were pretty good but a little fatty and they were the smaller (Wing Stop size) wings. The burger was quite tasty but I personally have had better hamburgers elsewhere. Don’t get me wrong, the burger was good and in the Wetumpka are is probably the best burger in the area. The fries to me were very dry and did not taste fresh. It was like they had been sitting up a bit. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive and the food did come out quickly. Overall, the food was good but at almost $17 per person with tip for 1 burger, fries, 3 drinks and 20 wings, it’s not a place I would be able to afford to...
Read moreWill not dine here again. Had the parachute burger. Meat was dry and bun was hard and stale. Temperature of meat was lukewarm at best. This burger comes with cheese around burger which was way too thick. For 12.99 I expected to have a great burger based on other reviews I had read. Also had the chicken wings which were not crispy and some were not completely cooked, you could see blood at the bone, which I'm not sure how this is possible since these were the smallest wings I've ever been served. When I mentioned to the waitress that the wings needed to be crisper she just said ok as well as when we showed her the uncooked wing. I would have thought she would have said I'm sorry you didn't like them or can we get you another order. I asked for a to go box and said we would put them in the air fryer to cook them later! She seemed to be good with this. After food was brought to table realized we did not have utensils. Also had to ask for the blue cheese dressing for the wings which I requested when i ordered. Was excited to see another option for dining in Wetumpka but was sadly disappointed. Food was bad and service not good! Only positive I can say was the fries were hot and I did like the Military motif. Will not return or...
