Hometown vibe… This is my 2nd time having lunch at Maywood Grill. The first time, my husband attacked…the Heart Attack Burger, that is! It was so filling and he enjoyed it immensely! This time around, I set up a girls day out to visit the Christmas shop and decided that this was the best place to go for lunch. The last time we were there, I believe there was table service, but this time you had to order in the bakery, take your number and go find a seat. I ordered the Ultimate Grilled Cheese. Provolone, mozzarella, cheddar, and blue cheese on homemade bread…amazing! The french fries are also very good with a touch of sea salt. For dessert, I purchased a buckeye cupcake…tastes just as good as it looks! The interior of the restaurant has fun, farmhouse paintings, and touches of decor. Wi-Fi code is available. Everything you need for your sandwiches and fries are on the table along with your silverware and napkins. My only complaint is that there is no soda pop fountain. You can only purchase them in bottles. Other than that, extremely good, service and atmosphere! Will be back! About the restaurant: *Takeout and dine in available. *Open for breakfast and lunch only with the exception of Fridays and Saturdays serving dinner. * Great coffee, tea, and dessert selections. * wheelchair, accessible parking, entrance, seating, and restrooms. *Family friendly, groups and tourists *Good for kid with high chairs and kids menus. *free parking on premises. *Debit/credit cards accepted. Reservations accepted.

This restaurant was really cute! Lots of natural light, very clean inside and out, in a good location right off National Rd 40 in the heart of the Laurel Highlands. Nice modern upholstery, with ample silverware and condiments on the tables and a little self-serve counter where you could get extra water, which was really convenient. The service was really good, also. You order with the really sweet and personable lady in the bakery. She'll give you a little plastic number, so they can bring the food right out to the table. The person who brought out our food was very quick and efficient - we got our order in less than 10 minutes, which was impressive! The food was pretty standard tavern fare: sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads. We ordered salads and chicken sandwiches, one of them an "Angry Bird" sandwich, which was billed as very spicy and lived up to its description. Fries seemed homemade and were very good. Mac and cheese didn't really have a lot of flavor. Salad was a bit overpriced (around $16) but I feel like all the restaurants are now charging too much for salads. So that was pretty par. All in all, a decent experience.

My wife and I were traveling through the area after visiting the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Fallingwater House nearby and just happened to see the grill. At first the design of the building caught our eye but then we realized that we were hungry and needed to drive a distance to our night's stay and that the Maywood was as good as anyplace to curb our appetite. At first we thought that it might be a little high on the hog for our liking but that was dismissed as soon as we walked in. There was a large foyer with plenty of seating, but only a few people waiting even on Friday evening about 6:00. To the left was a bakery with a few seats and plenty of delicious looking offerings and to the right a large very clean open dining room with what seemed a very family friendly set up. We were seated within minutes after arriving in comfortable seating. The menu is hard to describe, as it had a wide range from duck to meatloaf to large salads and specialty pizzas, all with reasonable prices. I had the Shepard's Pie and my wife had Salmon. Portions were large and very flavorful. As we enjoyed our dinners we couldn't help but notice the wonderful desserts that were floating around the dining room. There were individual sized apple and coconut cream pies and a super sized multi-layer Buckeye Cake (moist chocolate cake with flavorful peanut butter icing with a buckeye candy on the top). After our meals we chose THE CAKE and ate it later down the road. The service was very good- knowledgeable, friendly and helpful but not hovering over you. All in all a very nice dining experience. This little town is lucky to have...

Today was my 2nd time at Maywood and very sad to say the customer service was terrible & I will never come back.

The first time I came with some friends and I had a good experience. The cinnamon rolls were awesome.

However, today my husband and I stopped for lunch. We were told a 25 minute wait for two which isn't bad. BUT 3 families that arrived after us were seated before us! We waited patiently and the male host stated they were clearing a high top table for us. Then he comes back an states he will have to seat us near the cafe section. As we follow him over he asks the two ladies working in the cafe/coffee shop to wait on us. The one lady stated "absolutely not you can't sit them over here".... As we are standing there!!! We told the host nevermind we are just going to leave an left.

We also noticed that they had a limited menu available an not the menu advertised on their website... that was also disappointing.

So we went to Braddock's an were seated within 5 minutes & much better service...

We definitely will not be back... Employees should never talk like that in front of customers. The host seemed to be trying his best but it was poor service to have others be seated before us that arrived after us, had larger parties & then to have the female employees be so disrepectful right in front of us! I've never had such rude service & it was very disappointing because I know the...
