I came here probably five years ago and when I walked in the door, instead of greeting me, the waitress said, "We close at 9:00". I looked at my watch and replied, "It's 8:25." She shot back, "But we close at 9:00" and again I replied, "But it's 8:25". She finally seated me and while I looked over the menu the cashier came over and said, "The kitchen closes at 8:45". To which I replied, "But the restaurant doesn't close until 9:00". She said, "Hurry up and order."
All this time, a man who looked very much like he might have been the owner watched on as he was working on something behind the counter and made no comment.
I got my food and before I had even taken a bite the cashier was back with my check asking if I could please pay as she wanted to close the register (the restaurant was still open at this point). I paid, ate my food (which was good) and left, telling them if they wanted to close at eight, all they had to do was change their sign.
I did leave a small tip for the waitress as, after her initial rudeness she did, at least, give me decent service. I write this review so many years later just to say that I still remember how rudely I was treated, and I have...
Read moreI have past by this restaurant on several occasions in the last 3 years. I don't live in the area. Each time I pass this place I say I will come back and try it out. I love diners, especially these mom and pop diners. Well, today I finally made it inside. and I was not disappointed. First off, we were greeted by the staff with a smile and a friendly hello. The service was fast and friendly. Now the food. I had the skirt steak and eggs. I have not had skirt steak in a long time mainly because most diners have stopped serving it. This steak was cooked to perfection and was seasoned just right. It was outstanding. It came with the eggs, toast and fruit. These were my choices. All for 19.95 well worth it. The other 3 people with me had various breakfast foods, and no-one complained. They were all very satisfied and full, as the portions were large. This restaurant is also very clean. I will definitely be back, I live about an hour away but I will make the trip just for a good meal at a fair price served by nice people. If you live in the area, or just passing by, do yourself a favor and stop in for a meal. You will not be...

While I am a creature of habit, I tend to frequent places very often, it's been a while since I've visited this place. That said, I started coming to have breakfast here in the winter of 1978/1979. I was helping to build our home in Wheaton and came out to Wheaton 4 days per week of which at least a couple times a week, we would stop in here for breakfast before heading to the house.
The one reason to keep coming back here comes down to the owners of the place. It's a couple that to this day continues to work the place after 45 years. Wow.
We took my mom here Sunday morning for breakfast as a surprise throw-back breakfast and the owner actually recognized my mom from all of those years back. Very impressive.
The menu is very big and we ordered 3 different things - all of them were very good. My only improvement point was that the potatoes could use a bit more seasoning, but that's why salt/pepper are on the table.
Great food - great service and the owners have been there for 45 years. Great neighborhood place.
Highly...
