Edit 3 years down the road: After three years since the first review I wrote, I am somewhat disappointed with this restaurant. Most of what I stated before still holds true but not everything. Top of the list is the price increases. I realize that food has gotten more expensive and price increases are inevitable, but the same things I used to get all the time (namely the shrimp fajita quesadilla and carnitas) have increased by as much as $10. That to me is pretty ridiculous. The majority of their menue items are $20 and above whereas before there were very few in that range. In many cases you could probably get a steak dinner for cheaper. The good news is that the food is still good quality and portions are still pretty large. Service varies from server to server as with any restaurant, but on the whole it is still a good Mexican restaurant.

This place is hands down, the best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever eaten at, and it’s not even close. The staff is incredibly friendly, the service is excellent, and the food is phenomenal. Their portions are very generous, and the ingredients always taste super fresh. On top of all that, the prices are very reasonable, especially considering how much you get. Definitely give this place a try. I live near by and usually stop in for dinner once every other week, sometimes more, so I am confident when I say the quality is always spot on consistent. They have a huge menu of items to choose from including vegetarian options. You really can’t go wrong when ordering, however I suggest the quesadilla fajita with shrimp, it’s tremendous. Anything that has their queso sauce poured on top is...

When I don't feel like cooking I go to El Zacalo. Everything on their Menu always fresh lean and cooked to perfection. Riley our server made sure we have a pleasent visit. Munchos Gracias por todo mi Amigos!

My Husband and I connected with owner Jose and Family staff during their Grand Opening Wow his staff is so friendly and kind. The chimachangas rice beans salad w/ chips and off the menu (hot salsa). Chile Verde (green pork) delicious, it was totally awesome Yum!! We ordered off the menu for a party we attended. Jose (owner) was so happy to accomodate us chichrones hot salsa and corn tortillas. Our order was perfect fresh hot delicious and on a timely manner. I have to commend this new business in a area where ppl are not in the habit of origional Authentic Mexican food. This Family established friendly atmosphere Business has gone above and beyond to satisfy our Community. I thank you El Zocalo. Your all doing a AMAZING JOB keep on keeping on!!! See you very soon, Tonys craving our regular Chichrones etc...8) Visited again 8) if you love Seafood OMG Mojarra Frita (deep fried fish), Mexican rice French fries Salad and homemade corn tortillas. Hunny ordered Diablo Shrimp if you like hot packed with flavor try it, it was all perfect. Our Waitress Christina made our Supper perfect. Her personality and attentiveness were awesome. She is a amazing Waitress, we definitely will ask for her next visit! Try a Modelo light Mexican beer lemon and lil salt ice cold! Thumbs up to their Chef, I'm in awe! Thank you...

I ordered take out after a long morning at the doctors and it was way past the lunch rush, the place was practically empty. They charged me extra for chips and salsa since my meal was under $10 but if I would’ve sat down and ate there they would’ve been free? I ordered a steak and cheese quesadilla and the quality of the steak was poor. It was really chewy and fatty meat and not a good quality cut of meat like they have at competing Mexican restaurants. They also had trouble taking my order over the phone and ringing up my total when I came to pay. I get that this place is new but I’m also aware that they rely on customer’s feedback to improve, so here is my first experience and I’m hoping they can work out their kinks. I probably won’t be back for awhile, and I’ll stick with El Paso in Triadelphia for now.

I also wish the traffic situation was different. There is no light for coming out of the parking lot and you basically have to turn right and turn around to come back down to the light to hop on the interstate unless you want to risk pulling out into the intersection. I know this isn’t their fault, but hopefully there is something that can be done because it’s dangerous to enter and exit the parking lot at that...

Food: 4/5 ✨ - Chips&Salsa were good. We have different reviews for each entre: Tacos de Birria = 3/5 ✨ (We know it's deep-fried, but it was a little too saturated for serving - could have spent more time on the paper towel); Fajita Nachos (Mixed with chicken and steak + enhanced by grilled Jalepeños 🌶️) = 4.5/5 ✨ (If it came with the side plate of lettuce, rice, beans, and sour cream, like for a Fajitas order, it would have been perfect!). The frozen mango margarita had a nice twist (it had untertones of an Orange Julius/Dreamsickle). Service: 4.5/5 ✨ - Friendly and gave his opinion (very honest about what he did and did not have first-hand experience with on the menu) Atmosphere: 5/5 ✨ - Colorful and cozy. Some sports were on, too, for folks who are interested in that. 😉

Today, Sunday afternoon, was our first time eating here. The menu was quite extensive and had a nice build your own combo option. The prices were very comparable to other local Mexican establishments. It was well decorated and colorful. The complimentary salsa was tasty. Food portions were generous and well-seasoned. They offered kids cups, a thorough kids menu, and activity paper with crayons. The best part of the restaurant was the friendliness of the employees. They went above and beyond in their interaction with us and their other patrons. We will be back.

This time....4/2024 They are under new management n sorry to say some things have gone down hill food wise.... Free chips n salsa joke not enough salsa for the basket of chips they give you, no liquor license. But they do have more menu items n they are delicious Street Tacos....
