Read moreWalking into Generations Pub felt less like entering a restaurant and more like stepping through a wormhole into a parallel universe — one where time doesn’t move, food has no flavor, and customer service is just a myth whispered about by drunken ghosts.
The air was thick with the scent of stale beer, old fryer oil, and lost dreams. The floor had a glue-like stick to it, as if the very building itself was trying to hold me hostage. Every table looked like it had survived a hundred regrettable decisions. I sat down, not because I wanted to — but because the chair wouldn’t let go of my jeans.
The server eventually wandered over, eyes glazed like they’d seen too much, or maybe not enough. She took my order like I was interrupting something important — like an existential crisis or a YouTube video. I ordered breakfast. What I got… was silence. Time stretched. The walls breathed. The ketchup bottle judged me.
When the food finally arrived — possibly by time travel, because it sure wasn’t cooked in this dimension — it looked like it had given up halfway through its own creation. The eggs tasted like sorrow. The bacon was a suggestion. The toast? An abstract concept.
Every bite brought me closer to a spiritual reckoning: Why am I here? Who hurt me? Why is the syrup cold and runny?
By the end of it all, I wasn’t full. I was just confused. Confused, mildly offended, and a little sticky.
Generations Pub isn’t a bar. It’s a fever dream. One you’ll regret...
Read moreI travel out of town quite frequently for my work and obviously, DoorDash is a staple. Today, I was going to be waiting and found Generations within the app. Gotta tell you, when I see certain menu items around the country, I can't help but order and this was no different.
Pierogies were excellent. Crisp outer texture with the delightful pillowy interior. The texture combination made for an exceptional treat as well as being flavorful with a myriad of sauces to choose from, I opted for the General Tso's.
Now to the holy grail of the order, the Cuban Sandwich. Other restaurants say they have a Cuban Sandwich but do they REALLY? Well, Generations REALLY does have an incredible Cuban Sandwich! While not the same presentation as many other Cuban Sandwiches, what it lacked in the familiar visual, it more than made up for in flavor and texture. Each bite gave you the full experience of the sandwich, the pulled pork, the ham, the mustard, the cheese and the pickles, all blending together in the scrumptious and familiar Cuban Sandwich experience. Each and every bite was thoroughly delightful as it was delicious. A true gastronomic treat!
If ever you are in the Wheeling area, Generations can provide at least two delicious comfort foods that I highly recommend. Looking forward to sampling other menu items the next time I'm in town. Kudos to you Generations, a meal...
