We just celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary at Kiepersol Vineyard and the entire experience was nothing short of exceptional. Kiepersol captures something rare: refined without pretense, peaceful without being remote, and elegant without ever losing its warmth. The atmosphere is exactly what you hope for in East Texas wine country, open skies, rolling vineyards, and a quiet confidence that comes from doing things the right way.
The standout of our visit was Kevin, the wine steward. His deep knowledge of the Kiepersol family story, the winemaking process, and the distilleryâs craft made our tasting something truly special. He connected every sip to a piece of history or intentionâit was immersive, thoughtful, and the best weâve ever had. Be sure to ask him about the lone tree in the middle of the vineyard, and when you try their bourbon, ask him about âJimmy.â Trust us, itâll stay with you.
Kiepersolâs Barrel 33 was a showstopper. Bold, elegant, and unapologetically Texan. It frankly outshines the peer group from Napa. Kevin also introduced me to their Port Wine and to my amazement, Iâm a Port drinker now!! Kiepersol proves you donât have to be flashy to be world-class.
Our accommodations were warm and spotless, with every detail dialed in. The porch swing outside our room was pure serenityâlike floating on a cloud as an evening of light rain settled over the vineyard.
Dinner was remarkable. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection, the garlic mashed potatoes were feather-light, and the sea bass melted in the mouth. For dessert, donât miss the Cherries Jubilee, prepared tableside, or the exquisite crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e with its delicate caramelized top. The wait staff were excellent, attentive, gracious, and always smiling.
Kiepersol was named âTexas Winery of the Yearâ two years in a row (2024 & 2025) by the Houston Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition. That recognition is well deserved, and we experienced why firsthand.
If youâre looking for the perfect vineyard getaway in Texas, whether to celebrate something special or just slow down and reconnect, Kiepersol is the place. We left full of gratitude and already dreaming about our return....
   Read moreUtterly disappointing experience.
My wife and I showed up for our 8th Anniversary and had heard good things about Kiepersol. We decided to do some wine tasting and then order from their newly created food menu in the distillery. The wine tasting was mildly enjoyable - it was informative and we got to get a feel for what kind of wine we liked. There were some individuals filming for a TV show that cut into our wine tasting and started filming us (fairly intrusively) without asking, but I figured "What the heck, no harm no foul!"
After the tasting, we decided to go all out and order the large Charcuterie "board" that supposedly feeds "2-4 people" and runs about $60. We were delivered a lunchables style tupperware (we straight up had to pop the top off) that had about 15 crackers, a few cuts of cheese, and about 6 pieces of salami. Nothing fresh; no grapes, hummus, or anything else pictured on their website photos. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it's because of Covid, but our charcuterie tupperware was clearly an afterthought for the winery, and left us feeling like we'd had a fast one pulled on us.
The view outside was really pretty, but throughout what I hoped would be a quiet, quaint evening celebrating our anniversary, the filming team for the show were loudly conversing and flying a really loud drone over the field. They stayed for the duration of our visit.
All in all, we were really disappointed with our visit and wish we'd spent our special...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I decided to visit the Kiepersol restaurant for our one year anniversary. When we arrived (after driving 1.5 hours from Dallas), we were told you must have a reservation, but you can sit at the bar and eat. We were both totally bummed after driving so long for a great anniversary night. We have been to other wineries before and never needed a reservation, so it hadn't crossed our minds. We sat at the bar for about 10 minutes when the manager came over and said he found a table for us because someone didn't show up for their reservation (you only get 20 minutes after the time of your reservation to show up). Service was excellent and the food was amazing. If you're looking to eat a quick dinner within an hour, don't go here. It's a great place to relax, drink wine, and enjoy a good meal with long conversation. The crab cakes and filet mignon were outstanding, plus they bring bread out before your meal arrives. My boyfriend even received a handwritten letter in the mail from our waiter thanking us for visiting...WOW. We went on a Saturday night and the winery was already closed (closes at 6pm), but the experience was beautiful and fun nonetheless. We absolutely loved their Cabernet Sauvignon. It sells for twice as much in the restaurant, but if you go to KE Cellars in Tyler just 10 minutes away (owned by Kiepersol), you can buy the same wine for half the cost, so we definitely went and bought a few bottles to take home. Great date place and will...
