Penn’s Grill — Restaurant in Whiteville

I have always loved penns, I have grown up gorging myself on it, they have the absolute best fried steak sandwich anywhere in whiteville and also offer an amazing chili cheese fry with a great sweet tea, but I was highly let down this morning ,I have placed my on the phone many times and had it delivered directly to my house and it worked out spectacularly, this morning I decided to use google and order penns through the applicability offered website offered thereforein and I was made to understand(through the website because I don't know if pins even had any indication of my order being placed) I had placed my order it was in the commencement of being prepared and being brought to me and can even provide the receipt if necessary . but I called and was informed that delivery was not even an option today which I had absolutely no clue of considering I had placed my order on the website for delivery straight to my residence and got no reference back from the website letting me know that I would not be receiving my meal or that they have not actually been in communication with penns. Other than that I've always loved Penn's grill and will continue to, please just fix your Internet presents so the ordering maybe received properly and promptly and then delivered properly and if not may those people be informed and not be sitting at home waiting for a delicious meal to arrive that never comes and they're never told that it will never come. You're too good to let the internet bring you down....(update, ate there today January 16th 2021 and absolutely everything was made up for, the manager was beyond polite the food was delivered in a very timely manner and dear God was it fantastic you didn't let me down thank you so very much I love you all)(but I do have to say I did not use the web-based ordering system this time I just called in and ordered but regardless fantastic just...

This place is great! Right across the street from the AirBnb we stayed in which is why we tried it out for breakfast. We got seated right away and our waitress was super friendly.

I got a biscuit with gravy. Biscuits and gravy is one of my favorite breakfast meals and theirs did not disappoint. It wasn’t so thick that it’s like Elmer’s glue and doesn’t soak into the biscuit at all, and it wasn’t so thin that it’s watery and causes a soggy biscuit. There was a hefty amount of sausage in it too. It was delicious. I’m usually disappointed when I order biscuits and gravy at restaurants because I make great gravy, but my only regret at Penn’s was not getting two orders of it.

My wife got a double stack pancake which was also good. The over-easy eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was crispy. We also split a piece of cake because they looked so good and it was delicious as well.

I used to be in the food service business so I am very forgiving- short staff, no staff, new staff.. always human error..But my order(Chile hash bowl- requested no chili no sour cream) was wrong to begin with, the woman just handed me hash browns w onions. I repeated what i had asked for. The woman asked me what my order was and attempted to correct it/ it was thrown together, my one slice of cheese was thrown in pieces/not melted. Then I was charged $9.89 for added scrambled and cheddar..I was still charged for the chili and sour cream. I don't mind paying for good food but the price is high and very poor customer service- they lost me as a customer. I always tip and I am super polite. I don't feel like they valued my business so I will not recommend this place, nor pay my hard earned money for...
