I've heard so many good things about this place from positive reviews online to people i know saying they love it, but I don't know see anyone could possibly enjoy anything i've eaten from Rosa's.
The first time i went i had an italian beef. It was disgusting. The meat smelled spoiled, the bread was mushy and tasteless, there was no flavor of any kind except salt and grease. i couldn't eat it, that's how bad it was, i threw it away and i will eat just about anything. Later that night i felt sick.
Then someone told me that my mistake was getting a sandwich instead of pizza, which they're known for, and even insinuated i was stupid for judging a pizza place by anything else they sell. So i tried again, i ordered a medium cheese stuffed pizza and some cheesy garlic bread for delivery. I was told it would take about 45 minutes, so when it showed up in less than 30 i was impressed. But then i actually tried it.
The garlic bread was the same mushy tasteless white roll as my italian beef had come on, only stale. The garlic butter on it tasted artificial, there was not nearly enough cheese, not even close to browned. But it was at least edible. I ate it. Good thing too, because the pizza was worse.
The crust was anemic white. Not golden brown, not even close to brown, white. The sauce tasted like it came out of a can a week ago, very acidic and sweet. there was plenty of cheese, but i didn't really get to taste it because the whole thing tasted of raw dough because, well, that was the majority of what surrounded the cheese. While hard on the outside, the crust was thoroughly under cooked. You know what, that's not even an accurate description, it was -raw- on the inside. But even when i found some bits of fully cooked crust near the edges, it tasted bad. Just outright, bad. It was hard on the outside, raw on the inside, no spongyness, and it just... i don't think i can really come up with any more words to describe just how bad the crust is.
maybe it's my fault for ordering the stuffed pizza instead of the original or pan, but if it's horrible why even put it on the menu? I just don't get it, they're a pizza place. How does a pizza place mess up the sauce -and- the crust? That's 90% of...
Read moreDespite being primarily a pizza aplace, I actually don't really like their pizza. There's nothing I find special about that warrants choosing them over other places, and the cheese often fully comes off the pizza when biting into it, which is a real deal breaker for me. The stuff to get, in my opinion, is most of their other stuff. Their sandwiches are good, and most are ~$9. If you order fried, you get a good helping with complimentary ranch. I don't care for the ranch, but I'm sure it's good if you are into it. I usually get their garlic bread with it. The cheese bread is good too, but the garlic bread is cheaper and better in my opinion. They have a soda fountain and plenty of bottled options. But the best thing to get there is actually their ice cream. My favorite ice cream place. They have plenty of classic and more unique flavors. They come in three sizes, but the portions are bigger than other places, hence why they are more expensive. They have signs in their explaining it, but one of their scoops is two scoops in most other contexts. So only get three if you want a LOT of ice cream. You can also turn any of their ice cream flavors into a milkshake or cookie sandwich, which is a neat choice. While their service is good during the day, I've found it poor at later hours on more than one occasion. They don't keep someone at their front counter. This is fine, except the only time they seem to go up is when they hear the front door chime when opened or when their preparing a pick-up order. Ignoring the fact that people can enter through a back door that doesn't chime, they have ignored the chime from the front one on me a couple of times now. There's also no bell to ring when you do reach the counter. While you could shout or wave down someone from the exposed doorway to the kitchen, the lack of attention is, in my opinion, an easily resolvable issue that detracts from ordering there. The dining room is more situated for large gatherings with few, big tables and lots of open space. Their isn't much in terms of decorations, but it's not bad in any way, so I rated it average. In short, a bad pizza place with good alternate food choices and great ice cream selections that is best...
Read moreThey're BAAACK! Returned to Rosa's for the first time after the fire/remodel and was pleasantly surprised. The dining room is modern, eye-pleasing and very Instagramable. The exposed brick wall, matte black paint and hardwood floors are lovely. They have incorporated plenty of tables to seat parties of four or six plus a large bar-type table in the middle for a very large party or just individuals dining alone. They did a wonderful job updating the look. The prices are still reasonable and not a lot seems to have changed menu-wise. Of course, who am I kidding, we don't order anything here but pizza and man, oh man....did we miss this place. The pizza is incredible!! You still grab your own plates/napkins/silverware/parm/red pepper flakes and bus your own table after you're done eating but hey, who cares. We don't. The customer service at the counter was fast and friendly. Our pizza was delivered to our table in a reasonable amount of time. Great service, great pizza, awesome new look. Thanks Rosa's, we will...
