At first the waitress seemed friendly enough. When we got our(2) coffees, she only brought out 5 creamers. Walked passed us a few times letting us know our food will be out shortly. Drank all our coffee without a blink in a refill or anything. We had to ask for more, with creamer if course.. waitress passed by us twice within that time and finally came back to us not only empty handed but we are brewing more. So question, if y'all are open until 2 with brunch/lunch option shouldn't y'all have coffee on auto pilot..just sayin..it wasn't very busy in there this mornin. Finally got our food, I gave two stars bc the flavor is there but just lukewarm and my boyfriends hamburger patty fit in the palm of his hand with room to spare. She finally offered us a different blend of coffee which upon refill poured our first cup and second cup was half way and said she will come back with more. This is the service piece. Upon observing a bit more, there was a kid sitting at the bar, surely hope he isn't the owner bc he had barely had any interaction with his guests. Just sat the bar with his laptop and a woman possibly hiring or going over some financials, either way attention to the small things. He did seat one party and that's it. No acknowledgement to any surroundings.Atmosphere...anyhow...get our check and waitress remarked, this what it looks like and proceeded to stand there. We paid our bill which came to $38 and some change..honestly wasn't worth it for what was observed. For a Louisiana based company, the hospitality just wasn't there. I'm just giving an honest review from someone who has been in food service/retail for 25+ yrs and runs a deli. In my career in food service Quite frankly if it's that easy to ignore your customers and not be receptive makes me think I would kick ass running my own restaurant. In my career in food service/retail hospitality is a key element here. We all have off days I truly get it but honestly if that was your business owner, especially just opening too it would be hospitable to walk your floor to acknowledge your guests and get some feedback on improvements or wins. Thank you for taking the time to read this. A reply would be nice, knowing you are listening to feedback. I do wish your company success, You learn more from your setbacks than from your...
Read moreI went here for the first time with a friend to celebrate her birthday. I ordered the crab cakes eggs Benedict with city grits. My friend ordered quiche with potatoes.
We each had one alcoholic beverage. When our food was delivered to our table, the food runner asked if either of us would like hot sauce. I said I would like some and she asked if I wanted Tabasco or Cholula. I asked for Tabasco so she brought me Cholula. OK, no worries. I went with it.
Then I cut into my eggs and they were hard boiled. I was confused. My server happened to be right there and saw it. She confirmed it wasn't cooked properly and took it back to have remade. I kept the grits and ate on those. I realized I wasn't going to be hungry anymore so I told her to cancel the eggs and I would just pay for the grits (which were very yummy). She acknowledged my request and trotted off. She came back with a complimentary order of beignets for our trouble. They were burned. Then a man came out with another order of the crab cakes eggs Benedict and placed them in front of me. I just accepted it, picked up my knife, cut into the eggs and found them to be hard boiled, again. The waitress saw this and apologized again. I told her not to worry, I had lost my appetite.
They took off the charge for any part of my meal and only charged me for my drink. Since it was my friend's birthday celebration, I picked up the tab. Two drinks, and her quiche. It cost me over $50.
A young guy who looked like he couldn't be more than 24 years old took my card to cash us out. Then an older guy came over to apologize for our experience with the food and gave me 4 $15 coupons to return and give them another try.
Our server then informed me that the young guy is the owner. I'm impressed that he has embarked on such a lofty adventure at his tender age. And I do hope he succeeds.
Unfortunately, I will not be returning. I gave my coupons to my friend. (She said her food was good). I realize the price of eggs is ridiculous right now, but I don't think it was a good value for the money.
Perhaps they'll work out the kinks. I'll try some other place next time. Sorry, I should have...
Read moreSo frustrating... to see another restaurant operation open before they are ready. Review - here we go. Aesthetically appealing - see photos. Interesting concept - not just breakfast & cocktails, but yeah, cocktails with breakfast and/or brunch. There's more to the available fare, like burgers, but I'm thinking the early cocktails is a component of the shtick. In at 10:15 AM, thinking it's early for lunch & late for breakfast - should be in & out quickly. No more than a handful of customers. Bartender and a bar back. Ample wait staff on the floor. Ordered and waited, and waited, and waited. It was embarrassing. After our server and the manager apologized repeatedly, our order was finally served. Wife had the Crab Cake Benedict with grits. I chose the Broken Egg Biscuit Sandwich. Crab Cake Benedict first - the andouille infused hollandaise was missing the 'andouille infused' part. Plain hollandaise, as far as we could tell. There was plenty of lump crab and the poached egg was correctly prepared, which was positive. The grits were outstanding. Presentation of the plate was a 10. The English muffin, however, was was 'steak knife tough', tormenting the culinary experience. The Broken Egg Biscuit Sandwich - which is described as Chicken Tenders with an Over-Easy Egg, served on an Oversized Biscuit and Sausage Gravy. It was all that, but the gravy was curiously scant (see photo), the Oversize Biscuit and Chicken Tender was very dry. Honestly, it was an effort to choke it down. There was this awkward little quarter-pickle, conspicuously sitting on the side. The Country Potatoes were akin to the standard 'pan on the hotel breakfast buffet'. No flavor, no crunch, just blah. Overall, the Broken Egg Biscuit Sandwich was unremarkable - that's being kind. Beautiful facility and trappings. Good floor service. Broken Egg has work ahead....
