I had just driven in from Austin and was staying at the Aloft hotel. Starving, and looking for something better than “bar food” I took a chance on Raha. Looking at the pictures I thought this might be a casual food style restaurant, but walking in through the front door I was pleasantly greeted with a little more upscale vibe. The wait person was attentive and very friendly. She knew the menu and was very helpful. I ordered the Muhammara and smoked brisket hummus ( being from Texas I had to try it).
I was informed that the pitas were made in-house from their own sourdough culture, perhaps not a purist pita, but a nice midwestern twist on the flatbread. I was curious…
The food came out with a nice presentation and with two steaming 6”-7” sourdough pitas complete with food grade scissors to cut them into smaller pieces. I advise the scissors over one’s hand because the pitas are hot.
Craving veggies my first taste was the mahammud. It had the creamy texture of hummus but with a very different flavor. The red peppers, and garlic are up front with the crunch of hazelnut adding crunch to the enjoyment and an amazing flavor combination. Order this on your first visit, you will not be disappointed.
The smoked brisket hummus was also incredible. With the smooth and creamy hummus paired with the richness and bold flavors of the smoked brisket. I’m used to barbecue sauce on my brisket, but I cannot think of a better alternative to Terry Blacks barbecue sauce than this hummus.
Bottom line: if you are looking for quality ingredients, well above average flavors, and something a bit different, you...
Read moreRaha is simply amazing. If you are not a pickleball player, do not let that scare you away. They share the building with TapNPaddles, but Raha is its own restaurant with its own entrance and should not be missed. We were able to try several of the dishes….Pomegranate Fried Chicken, Brisket, crispy potatoes, Persian Fried Rice, Falafel, Baba Ganoush, Roasted Mushroom Hummus and Watermelon & Feta. All were outstanding. If I was forced to pick a favorite, it would be the brisket and the watermelon & feta. Both are truly special!!! Mediterranean food is my favorite and I am somewhat a traditionalist, but this out of the box take on these foods was so flavorful and amazing. The house-made sourdough pita alone is worth the trip. The service was good and the atmosphere is warm and even a little fun with the genie lamp!! On another note, I do believe their patio will soon be voted one of the best in Wichita. It is comfortable and beautiful, no matter the weather. Give Raha Mediterranean a try, you...
Read moreAmong the best mediterrenean in town, if not THE best. (In my opinion.) You cannot go wrong here, and they also have patio seating. To up-the-ante the restaurant is attached to Taps N' Paddles for some pickleball action to sweat it all out, or an after workout caloric intake. The building also has a nice bar, and its perfect for a date night! (There's a hotel nearby for some late-night pickleball also. 😂)
The "Smoked Brisket Hummus" is delectable, and the "Pomegranate Fried Chicken" is heavenly. For dessert (when if its in season) the Baklava which is made in house via Master Pasty Chef Robbie Garlick is 👌👌. The staff I've encountered: Katie and Abby are phenomenal too!
It's a bit on the pricey side for the high-end dishes, but the quality is worth it if mediterrenean is...
