I usually only write positive reviews unless something went horribly wrong where I felt it was too egregious not to mention. This is one of those circumstances. I had needed to go to the pharmacy next door to this establishment on the way to a 12:00 noon meeting that I absolutely could not be late to. The time was 11:20 a.m. and the establishment I needed to get to was 20 minutes away. Upon exiting the pharmacy I happened to notice that this restaurant was next door and I have an affinity for Mexican street corn which is not very readily available in The Villages. I decided to peek my head into the restaurant to see whether or not Mexican street corn was on the menu. And to my surprise it was! Excited to have found that yet knowing my time constraints, I asked the lady behind the register how long it would be if I were to order the street corn before I would receive it as I had somewhere to be and was in a rush. She told me it will be about 8 minutes. I decided to place the order because at this point I had about 18 minutes to kill. I was asked if that's all I wanted and I asked if they had horchata to which they responded in the affirmative so I ordered that as well. The lady behind the register it takes my card and runs it and comes back for me to sign it. She then disappears for 10 minutes. When she comes back she's got my horchata but not my corn. She leaves again and I wait another 10 minutes. By this point 20 minutes have passed. If I were to leave the restaurant at that very moment I would have still been 2 minutes late to my appointment. I waited another 8 minutes or so before it finally was brought to me. I probably would have complained or caused a scene but I was already so late I didn't have the time to do so. I certainly would not have placed that order if I was told that it was only going to take them 28 minutes to make it. Also I would understand if they were busy, almost nobody was in there. Lastly, the horchata was the instant stuff that you can buy at the grocery store. Nasty The Mexican street corn that I waited 28 minutes for was literally inedible. It was as if they cut up an ear of corn and dumped it onto a jar of miracle whip and sprinkled a little chili powder on it. Worse still was the price. 20 for 2 ears of corn and a horchata....
Read moreLo siento... I am sorry - but I cannot agree with those of you who gave a poor rating. The food was hot, tasty & fresh, the portions were enough to have leftovers if you didn't find yourself eating it all because it was so tasty, the chips were fresh & salsa just spicy enough, and our server was pleasant. Yes, there can be some improvements - even for yhe most established placed. We arrived at 6 for a 6:30 reservation & they sat us after a quick 5 minute wait. However walking to our table we could see the place was slammed with multiple large groups and that there might be a wait on service. The maximum people for the restaurant is listed as 86, and it looked like 82 of them arrived at the same time. Our server acknowledged us, quickly brought our drinks, chips & salsa, so the wait was not so terrible, and even somewhat unnoticeable since the couple we were with were delightful. Orders were taken, an offer to bring more chips made, and then another wait. However, you could see all staff was working as efficiently as possible considering the volume. Some others have criticized the decor, and its definitely not the Mexico exhibit at Epcot, but there are quaint touches that show the owners are trying. You won't need a suit and more than casual attire, but ultimately who cares about decor when everything else is on point. Give it a try, be prepared to wait (remember, the snowbirds are back, so either eat earlier or later - by 6:45 many tables were open), entertain each other by actually talking, and take joy in a...
Read moreI went to the Wildwood, FL location to celebrate my mom’s 91st birthday. My goal was to keep it local. The waitress was impatient and dismissive. Immature. We needed a moment to order drinks. She sat down behind the bar and fidgeted on a device. She ignored us (purposely). I have a an adult son that takes on that demeanor when he’s ignoring me. No one else checked on us for several minutes, even when we were ready to order. Finally she handed us off to another waitress with a head jerk in our direction. And I couldn’t take it anymore. I requested a manager. I got the “he’s not here; he’s busy; l don’t speak English act”; I wasn’t buying it. Finally, they played in my face and sent a fake manager to talk to me. This is my fourth time there. Never had this happen b4. But IT WILL BE MY LAST. I only stayed bcoz my party had no idea this was happening behind their backs, and my mom has a walker and was settled. You all are brown just like me. I am from Wildwood. The only reason there is a Los Magueyes is because of the Black community that came before you got here. Just bcoz I’m African American doesn’t give you the right to discriminate or treat me and my family less than. And yes, I saw a different interaction with the white patrons. In my conversation with the fake manager, I kept it holy. I even shared some gospel. I even tipped properly bcoz I want those Romans 12:20 coals to burn so hot that your heads...
