I had a horrible experience hiring Kathi and her team to make my wedding cake from start to finish. To begin with, I had called and texted the owner, Kathi, twice to arrange and confirm a cake tasting. Sadly, on the date and time of my appointment, it appeared that there was no record of me doing so because the owners phone was stolen. I should have known to go elsewhere to do my business but the owner's husband, John, was able to pull together some cake tastings for us. Leading up to the wedding day I called multiple times to make sure the time of delivery of the cake was accurate and that it would be delivered at 3:00 PM. On the day of my wedding, I received no phone call that the cake was delivered and did not realize until about 3:45 PM. My mother-in-law called the bakery to figure out where the cake was and we found out that the cake had been delivered to the wrong location. We got ahold of the man who delivered my cake and asked him to come back to finish his job of delivering it to the correct location (I had paid extra for the delivery). Instead, the delivery man responded by yelling and screaming (I could hear him yelling through my mother-in-law's phone from across the room). After an hour of arguing, he came back to deliver my wedding cake to the correct location, but the cake was assembled incorrectly and was leaning from the beginning! Ultimately, the cake tasted fine and was delivered to the right place but the customer service throughout the entire ordeal was very poor and that is why I would never, ever, recommend ordering a wedding cake from here. Doing business with Miz Kathi’s Sweetery was a disaster and left...
Read moreIf you are on a diet, don't come here. The food is caloric and very Southern. We have been here multiple times over the years, both for lunch and dinner. This time we stopped for dinner and planned on having dessert. They encourage you to make reservations online, which was quite easy. We came in a couple minutes early and had to wait on the benches outside, since it is small place that is packed with tables. A few minutes later they came and got us and took our drink order. The decor and feel is like you are visiting someone's house, someone with lots of tables and lots of dishes and flatware that does not all match. Each table has the cookbook on it, which has most of the recipes for the unfamiliar dishes, except the ones that were created after the cookbook was written. At dinner everyone gets the house salad, which has strawberries and a slightly spicy salad dressing. We both love it. They also served pieces of cornbread with butter, one each, which was also quite good. My wife had the Texax Country Fried Chicken and loved it. I had the Low Country Shrimp & Grits, which was very rich and came with 4 medium shrimp and 2 large or jumbo shrimp, all wild caught. It was great and the large shrimp were especially tasty. We had saved room for dessert, with a nice selection of cakes and pies, huge portions. My wife went with White Chocolate Blackberry Cake and was very happy with it. I went with Pecan Pie and also loved mine, including the spiced crust. We heroed up and ate every bite. Service here is always great. The food, service and atmosphere bring us back and always leave us with...
Read moreHad lunch at Miss Kathy's. What a unique and cool atmosphere. 100% recommend going, seeing the cozy, old school traditional, southern vibe. We were greeted with a warm smile. We're got there at the right time. It's a cozy spot and had limited seating. We were lucky enough to get the last open table. Highly recommend reservations, especially if more than 2 in your group On to the food, there were so many items that sounded incredibly delicious, but it was lunch so we both went for a sandwich. One was the Crispy Chicken Classic. It was hige, 4 tenders, butter pickles, icebox sauce (similar to ranch - good stuff). I am picky so I hate to say it wasn't my cup of tea. For me the pickles didn't sit well with the chicken. The chicken tenders were delicious. The icebox sauce was good too. Another sandwich was the Honey Chicken and Pimento. It too was large, with 4 chicken tenders. Both sandwiches were ok. One side had cornbread (more like a cake) came with butter - was delicious 😋. The other side was Hush puppies. They were unique and fun with the honey sauce. I would definitely try it again with maybe the chicken fried steak or any of the other deliciously sounding items. It's worth the experience and trying out a local hometown southern restaurant. Don't forget to call ahead and make a...
