OK, this may seem a little over the top about a hot dog joint. When I lived in Jersey there was a good fast food place called the Windmill odd name for a beach front restaurant. In the Summer, I would go for their hot dogs all ingredients were top shelf and there is something about hot dogs and salt air that can't be duplicated. It was a religious moment for me every time I went. Fast forward 30 years and I have been in a hot dog desert. I stop in this Hot Dog joint for lunch and it's in Brooksville Florida. The most notable thing about Brooksville is it isn't notable. I don't expect much but it is great, good rolls, great quality Franks, great toppings. And fries that were cooked in what I guess is three month old oil, so super favorable. I could not have loved it more. The only thing I hated is it's in Brooksville, why for the love of God is this place in Brooksville. Twice a year I would make my pilgrimage to....Brooksville to get my Hot Dog fix. The other day I'm driving and I almost crash my car, my church, my place of worship, has opened another location in Wildwood Florida, not the center of the universe, but very close to the Villages that I do business in often. I drive my car off the sidewalk and into the parking lot. I go in and it looks and smells the same. I'm greeted immediately, order taken, the wait for the food to be cooked wasn't long, but seemed forever because of my anticipation. They call my Name and I snatched my food, like a thief in the night. Now, the acid test. I grab a very hot fry and try it, oil wasn't as old as the mother ship but really good. I bit into the dog, the skin put up a little resistance, as it should, and the hot dog was perfection. I could have said, go here for a great dog and saved myself all that typing but where is the...
Read moreAMAZING FOOD! Must try everything. We will be going back for more. Everything was delicious. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance. The inside is fun, colorful, and nostalgic. We ordered shorts for our coneys so we could try a corn dog , cheese fries and chili cheese fries. Coneys were sooo good. I got chili and cheese. They have options on cheese; liquid, shredded, or slided. (Loved the cheese options). Truly one of my favorite coneys I've had in years. We also ordered a regular coney- coney sauce, mustard and onions. They are not skimpy with the onions - fair warning. Delicious! Corn dog was ok. Probably our fault as we left it wrapped up while we ate the coney. Wasn't as crispy as we had hoped and we also didn't not upgrade it to a Nathan's hot dog so it had a different dog flavore. Cheese fries had the liquid cheese, a little salty but I love salt so it was great. Chili cheese fries were delicious too. Both had a great amount of cheese and/or coney sauce to cover all the fires. You will not be sorry by going here for a coney, unless you are expecting chili on your hot dog. This is a coney sauce, like it should be. Love this place and we are already planning another trip back to try more items. Side note: besides having Frosties (brand of soda pop from Detroit), they also have beer and mixed drink options and really great prices.
We've been back a couple of time and they do not disappoint. Fantastic food all around!
They have a gumball machine and if you get a white gumball you get a free milkshake! Our kiddo has won 2 times. ...
Read moreYesterday while out for a Sunday drive we were in the area of Wildwood on Rte.301 about 5 pm and hadn’t eaten yet. We decided to stop for a quick meal. We both enjoyed our hot dogs and onion rings. The hot dog filled the roll and the commitments were plentiful, maybe a little too much. The Onion rings were made with real onions and perfectly cooked and were overflowing their box container. We topped of the with an Orange milkshake, which is a favorite drink. Orange shakes are hard to find in this country. The building is extremely dated and the floor needs some serious work and cleaning in the older section of the restaurant but, the tables are clean. The walls are covered in old times artwork and artifacts and statues, making it a very interesting experience and place. The lady took our order for food quickly and was very pleasant. She kept busy cleaning the floors as it was almost closing time. As we were leaving she pleasantly told us to have a good day and Thank you for visiting. The parking lot is a little difficult to navigate and it’s on a busy street but, there’s plenty of parking. The prices are reasonable for a hot dog and they are good quality meat. I would recommend this place to my family and friends for...
