This is the best place for ribs and anything BBQ! From the first taste of sweet tea to the last spoonful of BlackBerry cobbler, this is the spot to be. We live over an hour away from here and still like to make at least a monthly pit stop for some down home good cooking. We were in the area last Thursday and it was the FULL RACK Baby back ribs and two sides with a piece of toast for $13.99!!!!!!! And $4 for cobbler the sign said. We were on it. From the rack of ribs to the thick cut fresh potato French fries 🍟 and creamy cheese macaroni & cheese sides. It was amazing as always. There are a lot of great other sides too. Good come slaw and baked beans and a really good roasted corn 🌽 salad. I think the sides could be a bit bigger of a scoop but with all those ribs you get full very quickly. There is also a honey mustard 🍯 balsamic vinegar sauce on the table that is too die for all over ribs, fries, everything! We finished our whole plates and still needed to try that cobbler. Peach and BlackBerry. The choice was so hard but seeing as my husband doesn't really like peaches we both decided on the BlackBerry cobbler. It was delicious. A hefty bowl full of sweet ooey goodness with a scoop of ice cream melting on top.. I'm actually making my first BlackBerry cobbler tonight just to see if I can match it. And because it's so far away to get some already made lol. Overall truth is. You should get there now. Right now. Lol and it'd be downright awesome to have an Oakwood express open up in Citrus County. This county ain't got nothing good to eat. No good restaurants. Not a thing but the same old commercial businesses. Please please pleaaaaaaaase open up an Oakwood express in Citrus County. I promise it will be a booming success. To anyone who has questions about any daily specials just call em up. The staff is very friendly and they even offer you a huge sweet tea to take home! 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 a...
Read moreStopped in for BBQ late lunch.. it wasn't to crowded, the young lady at the entrance was not friendly and pretty much ignored us.. thankfully a waitress walking by saw us and offered to seat us..after sitting 10 min's a waitress finally came over she was polite and to the point ( customer service was a bit lacking all around) but after reading the reviews I was excited for some good food..it was not as good as others experienced, my food less than stellar my companions was much better... I had the chopped pork plate .. it was more fat and burnt hard pieces that wasn't edible..the 3 or so bites I could eat that weren't burnt had a good taste.. the Texas toast was good.. the Mac& cheese was cheap cheese sauce style not enough noodles and I felt like I was eating a bowl of cheese sauce.. after a bite I stopped..the baked beans were great.. tried the fried corn nuggets..they were gluey tasting.. my companion enjoyed there meal better than I did.. he had the ribs which I tried ( 100% better than the chopped pork bbq I had) the collards he had on the side were delicious but was on the small portion size, they were seasoned perfectly.. he agreed the Mac and cheese was a bust.. Overall an expensive meal that wasn't worth the price.. just not enough good food to...
Read moreNot good BBQ. We ordered all different meals, and none of the meals had special instructions. The Ribs apparently were decent. One the other hand, One of the meals came out with cold somewhat raw bacon. They took the plate back and When I asked if the plate was put in the microwave, the waitress denys it and says (and she seems annoyed at this point) that they took the bacon off the burger (which it was chunks of bacon by the way not very easy to take off a burger and put into a fryer) and fried in a deep fryer then proceeded to say the burger went back on the grill with the bun . I've worked in food service in my early years and I know a microwaved Burger when I see one and feel one . When we asked if the mac and cheese was made in house our waitress told us "No. Its a brand from the store". The pulled pork was off as well...
Thats just a few examples. I've lived in the south over a decade locally and in various other southern places like Savannah. We know good BBQ. This is one place we wouldn't recommend unless the owners really revamp the way...
