Soul Food Connection — Restaurant in Wilkinsburg

I found Soul Food Connections via a Google search planning a party with my sister from out of state. Mr. Hosea is an old school cook and his food is delicious!!! The partygoers raved about everything, went back for seconds, and took plates to go. My 96 year old grandmother said “Whoever made this food knew what they were doing” before sending me to get her a piece of fried chicken that she didn’t get the first go round. We shared his name/business with all who asked.

The ONLY downside is this business is old school; however it works for him. Place the order over the phone or in person and pay cash. My sister was in town to pay half the balance to secure our request. We were told we’d receive an invoice and it never came, nonetheless he confirmed with us via phone the week of the party and all was well. He has his method and it works.

I was not told this was cash only when I called. While placing my order I saw a sign that said cash only to the far right on the counter. The person taking my order never mentioned it. I was then told to walk 3 blocks to the right as there was an ATM machine. I walked down the street but did not see an ATM. I went back to the store to tell them I did not see an ATM. I was then told I had to go into a candy store! I started getting frustrated. I started to walk down there again but decided a fish sandwich was not worth this nor paying an ATM fee at the candy store. I told them to cancel my order and left. 4/20/22 I work close by and did not happen to bring a lunch, so I googled “food places near me” and found this restaurant. This place is definitely a hidden gem and a must try. Over the phone I initially ordered the fried whiting, greens, & baked Mac. When arrived for pick up, there was an error with my order & I received wings instead of fish. The gentleman offered to fix my order but I declined as I was on a short lunch break. The food was very good and the customer service is on point!
