This was place was suggested to us by someone who owned a store nearby. Waited all day to work up an appetite because she said it was amazing. Walking up it looked quaint and adorable. The inside is decorated really cute. It's kind of a tight squeeze though at some of the tables. That was the good part. The bad part was what came next. Our waitress had zero customer service professionalism. I get it was about dinner rush and she was hustling from table to table but she took a while to get our drink orders and had zero personality when taking our orders. No smile, nothing. She looked stress though from hustling so i will give her a pass. I Ordered the baked chicken dinner and my husband ordered the fried fish with french fries. It came with a salad, that I thought was going to come out way before our meals but it didn't. I get she was busy but she didn't even bother to give us a courtesy check or let us know how long it would take. Salads finally came out and about a minute later our food came out. I hate when that happens. I had better expectations for the food flavors too but the chicken was hardly seasoned to me. It was a chicken breast in panko crumbs and baked. It tasted better once i dippped it in ranch. The mac and cheese was okay. If it had a little bit more flavor it would have been great. The carrots, cornbread casserole thing were okay too. The best thing on the plate was the black eyed peas! Those were really good and seasoned well. The salad dressings were really good as well (Italian and Ranch). A little warm roll came with the food and it would be great if they offered butter but they didn't and our waitress was so busy I couldn't grab her attention to ask. The food was edible and just "okay" in my opinion. I wouldn't starve myself to wait to eat there again. The service wasn't that great and the food was mediocre. At least it was nice ambiance inside. Some people may enjoy the lack of seasoning so they can add their own salt and pepper but I love going to a restaurant and the food taste delicious as is and this...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to have lunch at The Ivy House restaurant today. We were warmly greeted and seated. So far so good. We sat at the table for about 10 minutes before anyone said anything to us. Finally the waitress that had been walking by our table back and forth asked us if we wanted something to drink. Told her what we wanted but the hostess is the one who got our drinks. Another 10 minutes went by and finally the waitress who asked us about the drinks asked us what we wanted to eat (apparently she is our waitress). Just as I am telling her what I want, she just leaves the table with no explanation. Very rude. About 5 minutes later comes back and very rudely asks me "what did you want?" My husband and I gave her our order and then my husband decided he wanted to try the fried green tomatoes. Mind you, she did not ask if we would like to try an appetizer. She was clearly upset at this, but wrote it down anyway.
We did not see her again until after our lunch was brought to us by the busboy. She finally brings the check to us. She did not ask if we would like any desert and we probably should not have ordered it but it seemed to have almost put her over the edge. Again, we did not see her again for a while and the busboy again brought us the desert. She did come back with the new check and laid it on the table without a word. She also did not say anything when she took my card and came back with it. Must not be a fan of saying "thank you".
I feel really bad for the restaurant as the food was delicious and the little house was just so cute, but this particular waitress did not like us. I say this because she was very nice and cordial to all the other tables around us. Not sure what we did, but unfortunately, we will probably not be back because of her. As you read, I did not mention her name, but she was the only older blond...
Read moreIt can't be a coincidence that my entire visit was horrible, can it?
But my first impression was bad, and I should've listened to my intuition and went somewhere else. Walk in and it's mid day not to busy, waiting for 5 mins because the hostess was taking an extremely long phone order. While waiting on her to get off, a young boy maybe 13 or 14 says, we will be right with you. He grabs some menus and tries to get the attention of the hostess to asked if it was okay for him to seat us (in my opinion he was taking the initiative to get us sat) she rudely brushed him off and when she finished her phone call, 5 mins later, finally seats us.
Waiting there for someone to even walk over to us, we notice other people get seated a bit quicker than us. Once again the same young man that took the initiative, once again stepped up and asked what we would like to drink. From the time we sat down until we saw our waitress was another 10 mins, during that time we noticed the the people that came in behind us had already got salads and we hadn't seen anyone other than this young man who from what I could tell was more of a bust boy.
Waitress came we ordered a burger and 2 of the Krispy chicken plates. The food came out fast, and there was a bit of food on the chicken plate. The chicken was bland all you could taste was chicken and corn flakes, Mac and cheese tasted just like you would get from golden corral. Hamburger was bland as well.
During our visit their bathroom was out of order and you had to walk across the road to a pavilion next to the main street a public bathroom.
So I would try somewhere else if you can. I saw Bubbasque real close when we were leaving, try there. Because the Krispy chicken was their famous dish, I could only imagine how bad they could mess up...
