It saddens me to write this review a few years ago I have this place 4/5 but now 3/5 and if I am really being honest it should probably be a 2/5. Let's start with be the food. It is horrible BUT it certainly is not what it used to be. If you never had their old burgers you might even say they are pretty damn good but those of us who been around know that the season long is not there like it used to be and the burgers are still huge but they used to be huge because the patty was huge now the patty is much smaller and the veggies are really packed in. My burger had 6 slices of tomato and there was enough lettuce to make a small dinner salad. The service was never A1 as most hood spots don't have but an hour to get your food when there are only 5 people in front of you? The is beyond ridiculous even if the food was as good as it used to be. I want to be clear to 1 star for service is only for the extreme wait time the young lady that took our order COULD NOT have been sweeter! She was very nice and professional in fact she was the one bright spot this visit. It was never a sit down spot but they used to have an outdoor eating area they had now been covered over and made part of the mini Mart and the parking lot is smaller b/c it is filled with cargo shipping containers turned into makeshift offices where you can get your taxes done. I really feel like this place could use the help of Restaurant Rescue or some such show. I doubt I'll...
Read moreI don't normally write reviews for places, but I felt as though if there's any place that deserves a positive review. It's this place. I saw this place on the news, and it looked delicious. So I decided to bring my dad here for his birthday, and it was an amazing experience. We ordered two cheeseburgers specials, and it was probably one of the best, if not the best burger I have ever had. The bun was my favorite part with it's brown articulate design and taste. The veggies and meat went together perfectly, and the fries left an amazing finish. As we were about to leave my dad ran into the owner, (Ms. Cynthia). We told her it was our first time, and she said the next time we came she would hook us up. We then told her it was my dad's birthday. She then said she'll be back in ten minutes. We told her we already ordered, and she said, "Haven't you ever heard of to go?" We waited for a while, and the cashier came out with a big strawberry drink with strawberries in it. The cashier said the owner was cooking something for us. So we walked in, and the owner had personally made an extra order of food for us, for the road. Then they played "Happy Birthday" by Stevie Wonder with all the cooks dancing. We gave the owner a hug, and said thank you so much. It was an amazing experience, and the best experience I ever had at a restaurant. They treated us like family, and we'll...
Read moreVery good burgers. I had a double cheese burger with bacon. I have made this similar purchase at other burger spots because let's face it, the meat put in, in most burger shops are very thin. Well, not at Hawkins House of Burgers. Not only was the patty as big as the 2 thin regular patties I get at regular burger spots, but the meat seemed to be hand patted and not factory made. The meat patty had a good seasoned taste to it. I chose to get mine with everything lettuce, tomato, onions mayo and mustard. I'll opt out of the mustard next time because it was over powering for me. I bought the combo which came with soda and fries. The fries where thick and not greasy, not your usual thin fries, they were good. I bought 2 double cheese burgers with bacon combos and two single cheese burgers. I ended up paying about 44 dollars which was well worth it based on the flavor of the burger and what you get. The place was very busy at around 1pm and it took me about 20 minutes to get my food, but I'll take a 20 minute wait over a tasteless burger anytime. Theres no sitting area inside but they do have picnic tables outside where you can sit. Mind you it's on the sidewalk. It's on the corner of a dead end street and theres...
