Wahoo's Eatery — Restaurant in Wilmington

My family and I have been going to Wahoo's for 20+ years and loved it. We've been there 50+ times and never had a bad meal. We haven't been there in a few months since the new owners took over. We've ALWAYS loved Wahoo's. This visit was really disappointing. We expected the same great food and were really disappointed at how weak it was. Wahoo's always had fresh burgers made to order. I ordered a cheeseburger with jalapeños and asked for it medium. The very polite young lady taking the order told me their burgers are now smash burgers and are all cooked the same. What I received was a cold rare burger. I've never seen a rare smash burger. By the way, my order sat at the pick-up window for less than a minute. It didn't get cold because i didn't get it in a timely fashion. This tells me the burgers were cooked earlier in the day and thrown on the grill to warm it up. It was awful. The "fresh cut" fries were good but i'm not convinced they were fresh. Wahoo's always served my burger with fresh jalapeños. This time, they were from a can or jar and tasted only like vinegar. Overall, this was definitely not the quality of food the former owners always served. On a high note, the ice cream was just as good as always and they now have a broader offering. So that's an uptick. At this point, we'll be back for ice cream and we'll skip the food. If we want burgers, we'll go to one of the MANY other options...

Great place to stop for really good food! The staff were very friendly and helpful and the prices were not bad at all. I got the pineapple bacon hot dog and their hot dogs are SO good! My son's got a burger and chicken sandwich and the burgers are cooked how you want and they're THICK! My oldest got a chicken sandwich and even though they're grilled, they put in a special request for crispy chicken and made it with tenders! The onion rings were phenomenal! They're battered not breaded. They have every condiment you could want and I really want to go back for the fries cause they have malt vinegar out and I love me some malt vinegar on my fries! Their soft serve ice cream was good but they don't have many options which was the only issue I had. We will definitely be going back! It has a beautiful setting on the side of a busy road but out in the country. There's a beautiful stream in the back behind some trees and bushes with a small path to follow there. Great place for families! Oh, they also get the food out pretty quickly too. I waited probably fivish minutes for our order even though there were about eight orders before ours....

Great place to stop. Ice cream, smoothies, and American fare including stuffed tacos, French fries, burgers made to order (rare, med., well), chicken tenders with "special " sauce, dinner combinations, etc. Soda was self serve with a free access to water source around back outside of bathroom. Garbage area around back along with bathroom and inside sink for bathroom plus the one outside. Lots of parking, which is hard to find in town at their other places to stop and eat. Can accommodate RVs, and campers. Picnic area with some shelter/sun shade over top of tables. Pet friendly. Pets kept leashed but room to move around. Garbage was easy access away from food service and tables. Wheelchair accessible for food but crushed stone lot would make it difficult to get around. Bathrooms .. not sure. Seem to remember a step but not sure, sorry. They were small though. Not getting a chair in there. Good place for kids to stretch their legs and run around out back. Service quick and friendly. Place was pretty clean including the grounds. Pet owners were pretty respectful of cleaning up after their own while I was there. Nice place. Would...
