“FOOD & FISTICUFFS”! Great diner, great food, even better sideshow. Typical older diner waitress, took our order in a timely manner and food came out timely as well. I had breakfast for dinner, as this is a “real” diner that serves breakfast 24/7. By the way the menu is extensive. While eating we heard some negative banter going back and forth between some waitresses near the front of the diner. It was inappropriate while they were out front. It should have been saved for the kitchen. It didn’t bother us and actually was interesting as we were a little over half way through a 15 hour drive. It died down and we completed our meals. We hadn’t seen our waitress in a while and wanted our check so we could get back on the road again. So we asked another waitress who politely called over to our waitress. Our waitress said something we couldn’t hear but the one we asked said “Oh boy hear we go again”.😂 That’s why I love diners. In addition to extensive menus, great food and atmosphere, you sometimes get a sideshow to boot!

Orem’s Diner in Wilton, CT is a classic gem - cozy, bustling, and brimming with charm. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by friendly, attentive staff who make you feel like a regular (even on your first visit). The extensive menu delivers diner comfort at its finest: hearty breakfast platters with fluffy pancakes and hefty omelettes, Greek specialties like flavorful chicken souvlaki, open-faced hot sandwiches smothered in gravy, and satisfying daily soups. Everything comes at a fair price, in a bright, clean space complete with shiny chrome accents and a classic bakery case full of tempting desserts. Whether you're craving a lumberjack-sized breakfast, a comforting bowl of chicken‑noodle, or a timeless BLT with a side of fries, Orem’s consistently hits the spot - and keeps diners coming back for more.

Typical diner. Plenty of free parking. Clean and neat. Our server was friendly and attentive. Good, but not great food. I had a bowl of lentil soup. It was OK, but, frankly, I've had better lentil soup from a Campbell's Soup can. My wife had chicken soup. She says it was good, but not great. My brother had a chicken salad sandwich, which, he said, was OK but not memorable. And my sister-in-law had a BLT sandwich, also not memorable, and two thirds of a chocolate milk shake. She assured me that it was very good. I've eaten at lots of diners. Usually, they take pains to serve food that you would normally expect to eat at a gourmet restaurant. This diner doesn't seem to have made an effort to exceed the expectations of their customers. They ended up serving us meals that didn't even meet my expectations.

I've been meaning to give a review of Orem's. I really thought it would be a happy one. Today, One star means I gave zero stars for some things. Do you know a diner that doesn't have at least 1 elctrical outlet for a vacuum cleaner? Somewhere? The food is good. I used to enjoy this place and Think of it as a place I would use consistently- until Sunday, October 15, 2023 when I was honestly shocked by their behavior. I've never acted that way towards anyone in my life. You should also know that I am female and middle-aged. It was not busy when I walked in So I don't expect them to use that as an excuse. For the last month I have been on oxygen therapy for disease in my lungs. I carry a portable concentrator unit with two hours of battery power; gets me out of the house. No restaurant has ever given me trouble about it- until Orem. I walked in solo, but needed a table for 2. Most of the time I have come in there with 10 people that I spend Sunday mornings with. As our group grows, I would have considered bringing more. I come in with at least one of them a few times a year. On this day, I came in by myself and I found them to be very unhelpful and rough. I asked for a table for two people and asked if I can have it near an outlet to begin recharging my oxygen. The waiter said NO! three times harshly. Not like no I can't give you an outlet right now; but no, I will not seat you at all, talk to the manager.

I talked to the manager at the cash register, who is not particularly nice or compassionate. He thought I was there by myself and I was asking for something impossible to do. I got a loud, dismissive, and flat out No which was embarrassing, because there were people standing around the register. He said I would not be seated, never saying anything about We are sorry is there something else we can do, we have a takeout option, or we have a table in the back and there's an outlet you can plug-in that we use a vacuum cleaner with, but you'll have to wait for the people to leave. It was we will not make any attempt to accommodate you, be nice to you, Or serve you. To me, if you can't accommodate me, that means you won't serve me because I can't stay if I can't recharge. If you can't accommodate me now, then you can't accommodate the 10 or more people I bring with me to your establishment....for the last three years. There was literally no effort, no kindness, and no compassion. It was humiliating, unnecessary, And appalling to me, and to my friends when I told...

I would normally give this a 3/5 stars, but the service today ruined my whole day. I ordered a Chicken Souvlaki wrap which was $11 and the waiter asked me if I wanted fries with that, NOT clarifying that it was an extra charge nor was it part of the special. My final came out to $19 (including tax) and I was pretty confused. With a calm attitude just seeing clarity, I asked about the special and the guy at the front got snip snappy at me and said "You're saying we should tell you the exact price of an add-on?" I said yes and he replied "That's not how we do things around here, buddy! Heck, you didn't even tip us! Our waitress works for free (she doesn't) you already paid and you ate the whole thing so whattdya want huh?" He couldn't make logical arguments and used fallacies and pointed fingers to shift the focus of blame. I left completely and utterly distraught.

The part where the special was listed had to be pointed out to me because it wasn't apparent on the page I ordered my food from. With that, you can guess it was in one tiny spot in a large book.

If you go there, be super clear and communicative with the workers on the charge ESPECIALLY if they offer anything. Otherwise, they deserve to have their business run into the ground for this sneaky, slimy, and schemey way of pickpocketing extra dollars from your wallet.

Food's alright.

The end.

Only atmosphere was good. Food was pathetic, salad looked like years old and smelly. Mushroom omlet was bad and looked like they used rottened expired mushroom. However, they are demanding a tip by asking specific %. Its upto the customer to pay the tip as per standard. You can't demand tip as per your wish which is pathetic service. You chose to service, hence you have to accept the tip as per standard and can't demand from customer. Mr.Demetri. P - You are the owner, do you think its fair ? PLEASE NOTE and TRAIN YOUR STAFFS INCLUDING CASHIER THAT THEY CAN'T DEMAND TIPS AS PER THEIR WISH. The cashier at the counter was arrogantly asking " did you tip ". The server was pathetically asking " you have to give tips, you don't know that, where are you from ?". Ask them to respectfully speak to customers. This is not the first time we are having food in CT. Its upto customer to tip or not. If I don't like the service and food, why should I give tips as per their demand ?? They demanded arrogantly and I ultimately gave the tips as per their wish but its not acceptable for a bad food and worst service. You are answerable as an owner...
