I live in Wimberley and one of my neighbor's told me about this place. Since Saturday is my day off I decided to take a short drive over to Canyon Lake and give the place a try. If you don't have Google or some other direction software you'll probably miss the place. It sits back and down behind a self carwash place. They have drive up as well as inside seating. There is a deck as well with a great view of the lake. I don't smoke but you can smoke on the deck. It was around 90 degrees but it didn't really feel that hot because the deck is covered. There's a bar as well. I don't drink but my friends said the drinks were great. Got off to a rough start because the waiter and the waitress couldn't seem to decide who was going to wait on me. I ordered the chicken Verde Enchilada's and they were really good. The Sause was excellent. The chicken was real, not that canned chicken that a lot of places are using. The price wasn't bad, 10 bucks and change, 14 with the tip. The place isn't fancy, but the food is great and if you sit on the deck there's a great view as well. I'll probably be back

After a day of boating at Canyon Lake, my friends and I stopped by Guadalajara Cafe, and it was the perfect choice. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed by the warm and friendly service. The staff, including a very attentive waitress who seemed to be the owner’s daughter, made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The food was outstanding! We ordered the California burrito, fajita torta, fajita street mini tacos, and milanesa ranchera, and each dish was made to perfection with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The portions were generous, and the homemade tortillas added a special, authentic touch. You could truly taste the care and passion in every bite. We also tried the Chispas drinks, which were served in beautifully decorated jarritos de barro with a unique lotería theme. We loved them so much that we ended up purchasing the mugs to take home! This place goes above and beyond, with extra attention to detail in both food and service. I highly recommend Guadalajara Cafe to anyone in the area. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re at Canyon Lake!

This is a gem of a place here in Canyon Lake. The service is excellent, attentive, and quick. The chicken jalapeño enchiladas were awesome, and the meat is clearly soaked on some juices, not the normal dried up shredded chicken. The huevos a la Mexicana was a little heavy on jalapeños, but it was delicious. This will be my new spot for great Mexican food. Note-i forgot to take a photo before trying food, and Enchilada was so good, I ate the whole thing b4 remembering to take a picture Update Feb 2024 Split the chalupa plate with fajita chicken, outstanding!

We were staying at a vacation place nearby. We got a to-go menu from a very sweet waitress on a Tuesday night (12/3) since we weren't ready to dine in. We adored her personality!

We came back Thursday night (12/5). The sweet waitress was not there. Another young waitress yelled hello from her seat and didn't get up. A young male came to the host stand and told us to seat ourselves. He was NOT friendly at all. We watched him approach, greet, sit, and take orders from people after us. We were contemplating leaving because the poor customer service was obvious. It was not busy! There were two tables with customers already eating their food when we came in-- a couple at one table and four women at another. They all left before we were ever attended to!

Finally, after almost 15 minutes of waiting, a mature waiter came to take our food and drink orders. He was much more caring. The restaurant started to get busy since it was close to karaoke time. We called on another mature server to get us what we needed since the young guy wouldn't even make eye contact with us. We watched the way the waitstaff laughed and gave great customer service to other patrons. We are very loving, classy people by nature and couldn't comprehend the poor treatment! Even if we're not from the area, this is not how to treat strangers.

If it weren't for the older waiters and the sweet waitress on Tuesday night, I would have given zero stars. They are the only reason I'm giving this place some stars. I purposely left the service stars blank for zero. We did not feel welcomed in this establishment at all being ignored while others got served first. We went from being appalled to wondering how long it would take before we would receive service. I think our waiter recognized the mistreatment and came to the rescue. We are thankful to him alone! The food was very seasoned, though.

We've never been treated so badly in a restaurant and won't go back...

Went here being in town for my birthday weekend. Food was decent at best, chips and salsa were good though. If I could give the overall rating & service a negative star, I would have absolutely done so. We got charged for margaritas we didn't order, my food order was wrong and they wouldn't correct it or make it right on the ticket. The server randomly walked by and poured shots of tequila in our margaritas (which tasted like they had no alcohol in them to begin with) that we didn't ask for but later charged us for. I didn''t pay attention to the ticket until after I paid and got the merchant/customer copy. When I saw the $190 total, I asked for an itemized receipt and was brought a copy of a receipt from a completely different table with food and drinks that none of us ordered. I'd read a review on here about paying attention to the "imaginary gratuity" they add for no reason. Well, that happened as well...a $48 gratuity charge was added to our table of 4 (gratuity applies to 6 or more). I asked why this was done and the server replied "because we're a small place". I'm guessing the staff thought we were drunk or not paying attention to the ticket but that wasn't the case. This place rips people off and gets away with it and that's not cool and it's extremely unprofessional. If the restaurant wasn't 3hrs from me, I'd purposely go in and run up a tab and walk the check. What goes around,...

The reviews were the best of Mexican restaurants close to the resort that was open, so we went. Upon entering we were seated right away, very intimate setting. The area where we were seated was a bit dark, hard to read/see the menu. Tables are close together, we have a thing about butts passing by when eating, we apologized to those we had to scoot by. Waiter comes by asking if we know what we want to drink. Doesn’t introduce himself, just what do you want to drink. We have 6 people in our party so we are telling him and every time, what else, what else, the rush was crazy. Ordered a margarita and the watered down drink that was brought is not worth the amount that is charged. Informed the guy that the drink was extremely watery to which he responded there are two shots in there, it’s premixed. Asked for a remake, less water or ice, whatever they are putting in it and he is over us. We order our food and food comes burnt and luke warm. Our children were very upset and ready to go, we waited to ask for Togo boxes, to which we had to get up and go ask for ourselves. The margarita returns to the table, he informs us that he has put multiple shots in the drink, disgusting. We packed our luke warm street tacos, paid and left. If I could leave a zero, I would. The avacado was the best thing of the whole experience. Do not recommend, should’ve went to sonic...
