Probably the best place in a town this small, but if you're not local you might as well keep going. There was no signage regarding seating so we asked a server and they told us to seat ourselves anywhere. My wife sat down at a table that was basically empty other than a few condiments (ketchup and syrup I believe) while I sought out the restroom. When I came back she explained she was basically scolded by another server for sitting at a "dirty" table. This server brought us our drinks before another server took over our table and was much more pleasant. I ordered the breakfast burrito and asked if they could do it with no meat and extra hash browns (they call them hash browns but they're closer to home fries smashed in a flat top) to which she told me they could do that as well as add avocado and jalapenos which was excellent. All the seasoning must be in the meat though because outside of the spice from the jalapenos it was completely bland. My wife ordered the eggs Benedict special and the eggs were poorly poached and super runny. All in all I'm sure it's a great spot if you're from the area, but if you're just traveling through it may be best to pick...
Read moreWe tried this place because a friend recommended their predecessor. We saw it was another restaurant now and decided to try it anyway. We were so glad we did!! The sandwiches were on delicious homemade bread - so much better than commercial. The coleslaw is a well-balanced mix between sweet and creamy and vinegar. The fish in the basket had a nice crisp and the homemade American potatoes were unusual and quite good with crispy edges and tender centers. The bacon in the club and grilled cheese was really crispy and portion sizes were good. The warm apple pie with ice cream was amazing with a light flaky crust and fresh fruit and a large serving for only $3.50. Everything was truly a good value. Service is friendly and attentive and the bathroom was clean, well-supplied and smelled nice. They also have baked goods for sale and we took home a loaf of cinnamon bread for later. Please forgive that we had already split the food in the pictures because we both wanted to try the club and the...
Read moreI have eaten biscuits and gravy at dozens if not a couple hundred places. The search has been long and arduous. At times, defeating.
I have explored Diners and cafes from Manhattan to the UP down through Florida and everything in between.
There are moments and times that I wanted to give up. To settle for the mediocrity of a canned gravy with a too-smooth-to-be-roux texture, or a biscuit that was clearly subpar. It would have been easier.
My journey of a thousand biscuits ended here. Gallons of gravy consumed to arrive at this singular geometric point of Culinary wonder.
Now, I may rest, knowing that Dimondale is in firm possession of someone curating one of the two best biscuit and gravy plates East of the Mississippi.
The search over, the mission ended, the road had led to...
