It was the first time any of us 4 had been to this location. The first thing each member of our party noticed and commented on was the beautiful interior design of the club house/restaurant. The staff was cordial but that is the extent of positive things I can say about our experience at this restaurant… Each and every entree was disappointing. Thursday is supposedly the restaurant’s signature weekly prime rib night. The $25 prime rib was under seasoned and over cooked. (It came out looking like the meat had been boiled) not to mention, the sides were bland and odd. The asparagus was unpleasant, and the mashed potatoes were oddly sweet, to the point that they were not eaten by either patrons who ordered the mashed potatoes. The $17 patty melt was dry, under seasoned, and barely melted. The first half of the sandwich the patron bit into had cold spots within it, while the other half was warmer and more melted. Which suggests both halves of the sandwich were not put symmetrically under a heat lamp, or even worse, were not cooked at the same time…to compound that disappointment, the patty melt included a side of fries where multiple fries were cold or even still frozen in the middle. And I can’t forget the most expensive item ordered, the $28 salmon entree. It was supposed to include an overall lemon flavor to the entree, rice and green beans. I am still searching for it. The rice was cooked well, but it was remarkably unflavored. the green beans were dry, and the salmon was undercooked. Leaving the patron with a very dissatisfying experience. the best tasting items were the appetizers, the soup of the day, and the salads. Which are hard to mess up. For the price, it was highly disappointing. Maybe this place is more ideal in the summer, during happy hours, when the weather is nice, and the “bar food” aka apps, burgers, pizzas, and beers are discounted. But I am very reluctant to give this place an other chance at the prices they list. Why pay $17-30 for each entree that you would prefer throw away...
Read moreI ate at The Sand Bar last night. It's down in the basement of the main restaurant clubhouse (upstairs on the main level is their fine dining). The booths are like golf cart seats, and the ceiling is painted blue like the sky with wraparound accent lighting behind a little shelf that's recessed in the ceiling. The cheeseburger I got was a bit too dry, and the tots could've been sprinkled with seasoning. The Key Lime Pie was good but very sweet. The standout for me was the chicken taco! They put about as much chicken and cheese as would fit in it. I certainly feel like I got my money's worth. It tasted delicious. After the dry burger, the chicken was nicely seasoned and dripping with juice. The sink in the men's room was broken, meaning they needed to reattach the faucet to the granite sink. Water still came out and I could wash my hands. They said someone else also let them know and that they'd put in a work order to get it fixed. But the most unpleasant thing about the whole meal last night was the obnoxiously loud guy sitting at the bar dropping frequent f-bombs. Looking over at another family table of 4, they seemed to be a bit uncomfortable and glaring over at him. Look, I get it. People get loud, rowdy, and drunk at a bar. I'm not a member here, but I have worked at a few country clubs. Stuff like that might happen out on the golf course, but never in the restaurant in front of children and more elderly members. At the very least, I don't think it unreasonable for one of the bartenders or managers to have asked the guy to speak a little quieter so that the whole restaurant didn't have to hear his many conversation topics and...
Read moreMy family and I enjoyed a late afternoon lunch on the balcony. It was nice to see the stunning view of the mountains in the far distance and the gorgeous golf course below while we ate. Three of us shared the coconut shrimp appetizer. It was SO delicious, we ordered a second one. It's that good! I had the small sized Pelican Lakes Cobb Salad and an iced tea. My lunch was very delicious and satisfying. I was glad I had ordered the small size. The turkey meat was fresh and high quality. Generous portions of fresh crumbled bacon, cherry tomatoes, avocado and just enough blue cheese crumbles and blue cheese dressing for the romaine lettuce. I would order this again. My son had a burger and fries, requested well-done and it was perfectly well-done. He thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband had the fish and chips and said he'd order it again. Evan our ice tea and Arnold Palmer drinks were perfect. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, helpful and fast. Lunch prices reasonable, especially for the high-quality food we were served. We had a very nice time and can't...
