I first must share that I have always enjoyed going to El Maguey. In our last visit which has been couple months back, I experienced a little problem that I had with my guacamole. When my food arrived it was as good as ever, and did not take long to get to us. The problem came when biting into my Burrito Mexicano I encountered a small piece of what seemed to be part of the outside piece of stem. It did not chip my tooth but it most certainly could have if I would have chomped on it hard. Now this is the part for me that gets a little aggravating knowing that a lot of these waiters and waitresses don't speak or really understand good English, when I was trying to explain to her she seemed to just laugh it off as if it was a big joke. I'm pretty sure she could see my displeasure, and I know that she took it to one of her managers on duty at the time but there was nothing ever said or done with this uncomfortable problem. That is what I have issue with. Again this is my own...
Read moreThis place used to be customer oriented, friendly, happy staff who made your dining experience enjoyable. Those standards are gone! From the time you walk in, they have a young girl running the register who doesn't know how to smile and could care less about your experience or providing good service. I had a previous incident with the same girl who took it upon herself to 'add up' to my original tip amount. She was inconvenienced when I ask for a receipt. It's been months since I've been back but my recent experience was the same, very disappointing. The guy answering the phone for my to-go order, couldn't understand a simple question in English. Coupled with the rude greeting I recieved when picking up my order is unacceptable. I felt like I was an inconvenience instead of a valued customer. Dont get me started on never getting a detailed receipt. Sadly, I do not see any redemption or effort being made to change. We will not...
Read moreNice looking restaurant. Clean...for a Mexican restaurant. Service was.... interesting. Ordered a large beed and requested lime. Got the beer about 10 minutes later. Lime took a unanimous act of congress (requested 4 times)... eventually when I asked for him tot ake the beer back, limes were suddenly a priority. We requested a side plate for the appetizer and the server looked at us as if we were demanding the launch codes.
I ordered the combination #1 (taco with 2 enchiladas, beans and rice). Requested a beef enchilada and one with cheese and onion. I explicitly asked for the onion inside the enchilada... instead I was handed a cheese and beef enchilada with a pile of raw onions on top. No discussion, no concern. The server's attitude was "f-you" in nature.
Food was a step above prison food... so if you like prison food.... you are good to go.
The town...
