Every time I give this place a shot, they never fail to disappoint me.
The food is overpriced and not well prepared.
My companion had one large pancake and a glass of juice. They burnt his pancake.
I had a classic breakfast. Two scrambled eggs, two sausages, rye toast, and hash browns.
All I could taste was pepper.
The hash browns were dry and overcooked, over peppered, and chalky.
The rye was thin, small, and burnt on the edges. It was oddly shaped and not cut diagonally. Petty, but I couldn't even give points for presentation, which I am want to do because I don't like to give bad reviews.
I guess the eggs were fine, as in cooked to my specifications, but all I could taste was pepper.
The sausages were good. If not a little too peppery.
Oh, and, the saltiness was covered by the pepper. Too salty, too. No matter what you bid into, the taste after pepperywas salt, then, you might get a hint of flavor, except for in the rubbery exterior, chalky interior hash browns. My guess is they were freezer burnt and went straight from the freezer to the grill, too.
The sad part, this was on a Sunday morning. This is a time when the place should be bustling, and it's not, for obvious reasons.
The cook was hungover or has no sense of taste or time. The prices were outrageous. The place feels stingy.
Would not recommend.
EDIT: Response to the restaurant.
I DON'T REMEMBER HOW MANY SAUSAGES I GOT, BUT THEY WERE THE ONLY GOOD THING ON THE PLATE.
I don't remember how thick the rye toast was, but it was not well cooked. You ruined toast!
The home fries were terrible!
I know exactly where you are on the corner. I was embarrassed for my friend.
I will not go back, especially with...
Read moreI hope it was what the waiter said new management learning the business. We waited over half an hour, on a Sunday that is fine for a small place without parking, but I noticed that maybe 20 percent of people seated had food, the rest had only drinks, this means the chef system or the amount was off to the ratio needed and could or should have been minimized. Then came the menu, it is the simplest selection of any diner I have been to and it was a sugary mess in the selection, I wanted french toast, but they don't have real maple syrup, one star off that is just odd I am fine for a fee but none. Then came my next selection eggs and steak, they had no steak, another star off, and they didn't tell me till after I ordered it. Soy selection is no maple syrup breakfast or steak, so I got a breakfast sandwich which cost 8 dollars before tax and tip which any other diner would be 4 buck even in somerville, they were out of crossants and it was a small sandwich overloaded with spinach for some reason instead of egg and bacon making most of the sandwich, a small portion of home fries my brothers hash was even smaller and I ordered a side of fruit totally 11 before tax or tip, the fruit was frozen and not defrosted, it was uneditable slimy on the outside frozen on the inside. Worst diner meal in years maybe decade. I think small things can make this place good but way too many small things made the whole experience abysmal. I would be open to coming again and trying to get something better like the steak and eggs, or if need be bring my own maple syrup to try the challah french toast, maybe those are specialty items that are much better but a lot was missing...
Read moreI'd seen the W on TV awhile back and they're were supposed to be exceptional. Well I didn't find anything exceptional about being charged close to 26$ for 2 BLT's. Then the juice, coffee and a cappuccino being just shy of 50$. The sandwich had 1 piece of bacon for, seriously 1 piece, 12.95$, sweet potato fries were 3$ I guess I didn't realize that they were more to swap out. So there was 6$. I could have gone to another well know place in the area and 3 of us could have EATEN a great breakfast for the same if not less. I was actually embarrassed and left before because my partner was adiment about not leaving a tip. And he Always tips Very Well. I felt bad for the waitress. But when you get such high reviews on a TV show you should at least continue to try living up to those standards. I'm sure there are regulars and have no problem with being served the minimum for more. Sorry but I am not impressed nor...
