6/17/23 I’ll start with the good since that won’t take as long. It was pretty busy for a lunchtime crowd but in spite of that we were seated right away. The atmosphere was decent; clean, spacious place, nice views, not too loud. Our server was very friendly and courteous and took our orders in less than 10 minutes. The clam chowder was delicious and the Caesar Salad was also very good. And now the bad. Prices were about 30% higher than what we’re used to. That’s not something to complain about as long as the quality of the food and service matches the prices. So, what we thought to be our food (at least it matched what we ordered) arrived in less than 15 minutes brought by a food runner(our server’s words) who stood in the middle of the floor for a few minutes trying to decide what to do with the dirty used trays on the server racks before finally deciding to move them before setting our order down. And there they sat, and sat for close to 15 minutes until the runner came back and grabbed my wife’s lobster with clams and corn in a wooden bucket and quickly whisked it away to another table in the back of the dining room. After about another 5 minutes another server came by, stopped abruptly at the server tray with the steak remaining, looking puzzled. I just said “Are you having trouble identifying that order?” “Yes” she said “Is it yours?” I said “Well if it is I sure don’t want to pay for a cold ribeye and baked potato.” “I’ll be back shortly with a new one’” she said, before we had a chance to inquire about my wife’s missing lobster. Both orders came back out in about 10 minutes. Steak and corn were both lukewarm’ though cooked correctly. Baked potato wouldn’t melt butter. My wife asked for extra butter, because, you know, lobster and clams, and the server brought a dish of cold butter and margarine packets. Wish we’d have had a candle on the table to melt it. The owner (I guess) did come out and apologize for our meal problems and made a point to say “but we did refire you a new steak” as if that were above and beyond. So, after paying “fine dining” prices for “diner” quality food, no bread to share and no vegetable to go with the steak we were graciously compensated with a very nice 8 ounce dixie cup with iced coke. It was full though. I did score kind of a win today though. I think my wife was kinda proud of me for not making a scene and embarrassing her, They’re just lucky it wasn’t...
Read moreWe have been coming to this area in the summer all of my life. Spinneys was always our "go to" restaurant...this year we decided to pass due to the poor reviews and drastic menu change. We decided to try The Taste of Maine, which we have never been to. We were not disappointed! This is our family's one big "expensive dinner" outing while on vacation. I had the Haddock Supreme, which was delicious....a baked piece of haddock covered with a generous amount of stuffing, yummy Newburg sauce, and shrimp. Served with a delicious Caesar salad and dinner rolls. We got the Calamari and Crab Dip for appetizers, and the whole table enjoyed sampling. My picky eater teenage son decided to go out of his comfort zone and try the Seafood Marinara, which he ended up really enjoying! My daughter ordered the Baked Seafood Medley and loved it. My husband, who is not a seafood eater, found some good choices in pasta, burgers, and a steak sandwich (he was happy to find this as an option, as this had been his favorite at our previous restaurant). They even have senior options that include a good choice of entree, salad, dessert, and coffee/tea/fountain drink! Upon her first bite, my mom remarked "it's so fresh!" Our server, Ashley, was attentive, friendly, and helpful. She took the time (even though the restaurant was busy) to tell us that our food was coming out soon and checked in on us throughout the meal. Overall, we absolutely loved our dinner here and are already planning to make...
Read moreWe drove 2 hours away to check this place out! After seeing on Facebook about the worlds biggest lobster roll We had to check it out ! The restaurant itself looks extremely cool! The wait was a little long but it was only due to the Comedy show that we where seeing after we ate upstairs! We ordered some beverages! Highly recommend the blueberry lemonade drink! We then ordered crab dip and clam chowdah! The crab dip was excellent! The clam chowder was average but still tasty ! We then ordered the massive lobster roll! It was priced at 160$ it’s 6 lobsters with about 6 pounds of meat! It does come with fries and 2 slices of watermelon! The lobster roll was fantastic and I totally didn’t mind them taking pictures for Facebook! For 160 bucks I feel like it’s a good once in a lifetime opportunity and that it would be great to split the cost with friends! However I do wish that it came with more! Like bigger basket of French fries or a soups included! My mom and grandmother got the prime rib and it was super delicious looking! The only reason why I didn’t rate 5 stars is because at the Bob Marley show upstairs it was extremely hot with no AC! We where sweating a ton! But I still had a really fun time at the show! Would I drive 2 hours away to go again ? Probably not but if I am in the area already I would definitely stop by again ! Super fun place to eat! I would definitely...
