We went for dinner on the second day since the remodel and new owners so this review is subject to change, we will go back but this is just based on our first experience. The lights at the main counter were a little overwhelming and too bright. The decor and seating were pretty decent. Our server was very sweet and you could tell there was a mix of experienced and fairly new servers, I can see how the pressure would be at the forefront of the new staff. Food was what you expect, nothing amazing (but that apple pie was something else, hot tip, take it to go and heat up in a microwave for about 45 seconds). Grilled chicken sandwich was just about the plainest tasting thing I have ever had, I know, who goes to a place known for burgers and rings and gets a chicken sandwich? Fish sandwich was fine to others at the table, they thought it would have been an actual filet and not just pieces. Onion rings were big and greasy, just the way they're meant to be. They were waiting on their checkout system so all bills were tallied by the gals at the front counter which took a little longer than usual but again, it was the second day opening, I'm sure everything will run smoothly as time goes on. I'm looking forward to going back and trying a couple other things on the menu, but I know what to expect and know that it's not a fine dining establishment, it's a Wooster institution that's seen many changes over the years and has a loyal...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were given lunch menus, then when we had decided what to order, were told that they were only serving breakfast, so in a little while, the waitress returned with breakfast menus. I ordered the smallest breakfast, scrambled eggs and toast. When we got our breakfast, I noticed that my scrambled eggs were an omelet, which I didn't order. I returned my plate to kitchen and said, don't make anything more, please take it off my bill because the other person I was eating with was almost done. After a bit, they brought other eggs and toast and I said no, my tea is now cold and the other person is almost finished. Then, they brought me home fries....why? I don't know, I hadn't ordered home fries, so said, no we are almost done. Had not ordered them. The woman who took the wrong order from me told me it would be taken off my bill . When we went to pay, our bill included both breakfasts and when I protested loudly, with with no profanity, the waitress said I was being charged for home fries. I found a menu and showed her what I ordered and said there were no home fries, I didn't order home fries. Waitress started crying and manager ordered me out and told me not to come back, that they were refusing me service. We were met with confusion from start to finish and no, I was not thinking of coming back. I was treated as if all of their mistakes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHow disappointing. We were so excited to see one of our favorite restaurants was back in business again, and unfortunately VERY disappointed when we went. We did have a bit of a wait time, but we expected that with being newly open. However, what I didn't expect was the food to CHANGE so much! I have been getting the grilled chicken on RYE since I was 4 !!! It is no longer the chicken on rye I had even a few months ago! The bun is disgusting, and the chicken was chewy and thick. The fries seem different, too. I used to love them now they are burnt and full of grease. Onion rings, the onions are now crunchy like they aren't fully cooked. No way the burgers are Canaan Meats anymore. They're thin and dry. It's kinda sad that this business has held on this long thru different owners and now all of a sudden, they literally CHANGE all the things that made Bishops what it was. We used to come to Bishops with our kids like my parents did with us and now it's to the point I'm afraid it's the...
