I wish I had checked the low review option here and read all of these before we dined here. Please do so. And then read the reviews for the other Amish buffet less than 5 miles awayâŚ. Itâs like comparing heaven to hell. But I must say our waitress, Arlene was the sweetest ever.
But the foodâŚ. Everything was cold, and worse than the worst soup kitchen on the planet or Catholic charities type fare, but worse because I donât even think those places would serve stale close to rotten food and we wondered if we should call the health department.
The chicken soup tasted like dishwater and prompted an immediate stomach ache, the mashed potatoes on the buffet, and the stuffing and everything else was lukewarm, and the gravy was water. And everything just tasted bad! Our kind waitress showed the kitchen the gravy, and asked them, âwhat is up with this gravy?â And then she went into the back and found some gravy which she brought out to me and said, âsee this is what our gravy is supposed to look like,â and she apologized for the kitchen.
But the quality of the food was just so poor, (except, to be fair, the chicken was actually pretty good) but seems like management is cutting corners like crazy and I donât know why more people donât notice, or where these good reviews are coming from but please check the option to read the low reviews- hopefully in time before you head out and go to the one in Berlin Ohio instead- it is not completely perfect, but it is very very good and worth going to. I have no ties to that other place, I just want people to know, and I want the management to take care of business here. At least get rid of outdated or expired food! Maybe go eat at Berlin place yourself so you can see what you are in competition with and find a way to beat them, maybe even do something crazy and use real whipped cream, instead of fake topping on your piesâŚ
PS I forgot to say how bad the hot tea was; itâs made up ahead of time, and you can tell itâs been sitting around forever. It was even a strange color and the crackers they served with the soup were completely stale and outdated, and unlike the other restaurant in Berlin, they donât even bring dinner rolls...
Read moreI'm a local it was the first time customer. I have never complained about food in an a restraunt. That being said the dressing offered was buttermilk not ranch . The mashed potatoes you could drink through a straw. The meatloaf tasted like ketchup nothing else it was smothered in it. My wife got the roast beef it was extremely dry I never finished one plate . When asked if we were just saving room for desert . Because deserts aren't offered on the 17$ buffet. I said no. When I went to pay the the bill I was asked about the visit I expressed my experience the lady at the register you are probably not used to this style of food. I said I'm not a tourist. She was shocked I then told my wife Saif the roast beef was so dry she insisted that was impossible it's sitting in juices. So know she's calling my wife a liar . I paid 40 bucks to eat part of a salad. And say I don't know what I'm talking about because I was a tourist and my wife a liar. Tourist might buy into it. Oh ask about the locals table they offer to move to the head of the line. This is in all my years the worsed experience I've ever had. The lady taking payment was so unprofessional this visit was 4/26 at lunch time ordering off the menu may be a better option. At best nursing home quality might have noticed I didn't mention the fried chicken I didn't try it I was already to disappointed to be let down any further. The fact that she said your just not used to this type of food is straight gas lightning. I know the 4.6 rating comes from mainly tourist because it is just that a tourist trap unfortunately nothing more nothing less. I hate to give such a review but the cashiers attitude what really made thise...
Read moreThis food is so good. Simple, down-home, fresh made cooking! This is our return trip for my wife's birthday. The first time and this we got the buffet. (You can order from a menu if you choose.)
Essentially, they have a salad bar and hot bar. At the salad bar they have your typical tossed salad and toppings and then the cold salads like potato salad and cole slaw. The Amish mustard potato salad is so sweet and good...my fav. They have some other Amish favorites like pickled beets and eggs...not my fave, but still good.
The hot bar is delish! They have all the carby starch food you could want. It starts with stuffing, chicken & noodles, green beans and onions, fresh corn, and mashed potatoes. Then, the succulent protein section includes hamburger steaks in mushroom gravy...YUM!, fried chicken you'd slap your mammy for đ, ham steak meatballs in a sweet sauce that were ok, and succulent pot roast. (There was more on each bar I just can't recall everything.)
There is one dessert at the salad bar. It looked like a berry cobbler. I didn't get that. Instead, I opted to order the coconut cream pie from the menu. NOT a mistake! It was $3.50 for a piece that totally covered the plate. Thankfully my wife helped with a few bites cause I struggled finishing it. We were so stuffed, so satisfied, and so happy with our meal.
Our waitress, Fern, was a hardworking, no nonsense, sweet waitress. Just get there! We'll...
