I ordered a beef sandwich. When I got home the sandwich was very dry. I called 3 times to ask if they would deliver a small container of natural sauce. They never came. Each time Jennifer said they were there and didn't have my phone number. I gave you my phone number. Jennifer said, I didn't write it down. What? Now she said they're too busy. I waited over an 1 1/2 hr. Why is it my fault that you didn't write it down. I was polite. I'm very disappointed. I wish they had a place that I did post photo of my dry sandwich.

New Add-ons: I returned sandwich personally at Phil's to Jennifer. She was firm that she sent two drivers no such address.

I showed her an addressed card with the address I originally gave her. She didn't want to look at she's too busy. She never apologized or took any ownership. I walked out I wasn't going to beg. The french fries and sweet peppers were good.

Don't tell me you didn't have my phone number when you admitted you didn't write it down. Then you insisted that I gave you the wrong address twice. Not true, both times was the same. Then you refused to look at the mailed business card. A simple, I'm sorry for you inconvenience. Instead you picked up a cardboard starting writing on it. I think you assumed that I thought you would give me another meal. That's not what I was asking. I expected respect from you as manager to admit you misjudged me. All 3 phone calls to you, I was polite with you.

I walked out...

No flexibility on the smallest issue, so they lost a $50 due to micro managing & inflexibility. I asked for the mayo on my grilled chicken sandwich to be put on the side. The order taker said, "No we can't do that" Why? She said," I wouldn't know how to charge you". I said, can you put the amount you would put on the sandwich, in the side cup that you put my onions in? She said, I can't do that, all I can do is put no mayo on the sandwich. Then the manager comes on the phone. He said we don't do that because the mayo gets funky. I said, that doesn't make sense. You will put the mayo on a hot sandwich but not on the side in the cup? Does the mayo get funky on the hot sandwich? What's the difference, the sandwich is hotter than on the side in the cup. Yesterday I ordered & you put my onions in a cup, can you do that? I explained that I cut the sandwich in half, & the mayo makes the bread soggy & ruins the rest of it for later. So I waste food & money, so I would really appreciate it, & I was very nice about it. He said no, we don't do that. Mr. Micro manager, who should have said, sure no problem. But he wants to be stubborn, overly controlling & have it his way. So, they lost a $50, & all future business, because he can't put the mayo on the side. So, Papas on 87th just delivered my order, got a nice tip, & put the mayo...

Cstomer service is lousy - very poor, very very sad considering they make a decent pizza. That must be the only way they made it this long because training of staff in areas of courtesy, accommodating customer needs is clearly not something they value. First order, they did not take a coupon displayed on my phone (said I had to have it printed on paper -- ok, is this still 1977?!) Second time ordering pickup they refused to take my payment over the phone -- I had a family member picking ip the order and I wanted to pay the bill rather than my family member. I was told that "Phil's can only take payment over phone for delivery order" --- WHAT?!?! If you can take it for delivery order that means you have the ability to take payment info for ANY order. Read the other comments below. They make a good pizza, however they lack personality and any capacity to accommodate customer requests - no matter how large or small. There are a lot of other great pizza places that DO accommodate customer needs and so thank you Phil's for allowing me to be able to talk about a Chicago pizza place that is NOT GOOD. I will be taking my business elsewhere and I urge others to do the same. Phil's "best kept secret" is that they lack...

First the positives: The lady at the counter was super nice and the place was immaculately clean and brightly lit. The pizza has plenty of toppings and the sauce is pretty decent. Now the negative: it’s not cooked right. It tastes like they just mixed up the dough a few hours ago and rolled it out and cooked it. Instead of allowing the pizza dough time to develop flavor and texture by letting it sit overnight in the cooler or allowing it to proof. Most of the crust is partially raw. And the entire bottom of the pizza is white. No nice scorch marks on the bottom of the crust like there’s supposed to be. Is there maybe an ingredient missing in this crust? It just isn’t right. Too bad, I think the place has potential if they could adjust their dough making technique and maybe adjust the temperature of the oven or something like that. But the good news is throwing a few slices in the power air fryer XL for four or five minutes fixed my problem, kind of. Thank you for reading my rant, pizza is like religion to me I take it seriously.

My husband and I have been ordering from Phil’s for over 25 years. They have catered our children’s baptisms, communions and graduations. This past year. The service and pizza have been terrible! The past two months, our toppings have slid off the dough. Both instances they were picked up by adults who held the pizza flat on their lap. We were told that it’s our fault and that we didn’t hold the pizza flat…. If I could give the service a negative rating, I would. If the pizza is too hot and there may be an increase in the toppings skidding, keep the pizza in holding and if the customer insists on taking it, then the responsibility is on the customer. To consistently serve an unfinished product is bad business. We will no longer be ordering from Phil’s as customer loyalty and quality means nothing to them. Funny how pricey they are and delivering a subpar product and terrible service…. Seems that they are trying to make up for customer losses.

Phil’s Pizza in Oak Lawn has been a cherished part of our family tradition for years. Every time we visit my 80-year-old grandma, we make it a point to order their amazing sausage pizza for carry-out. My grandma absolutely loves it—it’s her favorite treat. My kids can’t get enough of it either, and I have to admit, it’s one of my favorites too. There’s something about the perfectly cooked crust, the flavorful sausage, and the rich sauce that makes every bite memorable. Bringing Phil’s pizza home feels like bringing a little bit of joy to our family gatherings. It’s more than just a meal—it’s the time we spend together, sharing stories and laughs over some of the best pizza we’ve ever had. Thank you, Phil’s, for being a part of our family’s traditions and for creating memories we’ll treasure forever. We can’t wait for our next visit!
