Where to start on this unassuming restaurant. It has been on our list to try for a good while since it is near where we live and I'm so thrilled that we finally made it. I wasn't expecting the local art which is awesome and the mural on the fence in back which tells the story of the restaurant and created by Michael C. (bartender). The smells that came from the kitchen were deliciously enticing and looking over the menu I knew a couple things we wanted to try. So what did we have? First off the Pretzel Nugs with house-made beer cheese and roasted garlic caramel. I loved the roasted garlic caramel so much I asked for a jar to take home, it is that good! Trust me :) They had blackened mahi mahi tacos, house-made pico and they were delectable and juicy. Michael was gracious to explain the concoctions. To drink I had the Blue Mountain Hop which has duck fat infused Bulleit bourbon, pecan liqueur, sweet vermouth and orange and he had The Nightosphere which is blackberry infused El Jimador blanco, house-made cranberry & basil liqueur, sour, and grenadine in a Himalayan pink salt rimmed glass. Very tasty and clever drinks! I had the Cemita which is a lightly breaded buttermilk fried chicken cutlet with oaxaca cheese, red onion and cilantro and he had the short rib mac and cheese which has smoked Gouda and cheddar with Mr. Pibb braised beef short rib with fried shallots. Shout out to Arlena our lovely and friendly server, Michael C the artist and bartender and Mike W who we indulged us with more information about the food and restaurant. We will definitely be back and if you haven't been you need to check it out! Many thanks!!

We dined on a Tuesday night with another couple from West Chester. It was everyone's first time. It was a beautiful night, so we were able to sit outside. Our server was Hunter, and he did a nice job. I had two of the Mexican Cousin margaritas and they were wonderful. My wife had the Old Fashioned and loved it. We started with the Drunken Mussels. The mussels were cooked perfectly, but the broth was very thin and didn't have a lot of flavor compared to other mussel dishes in the city. I wouldn't order them again. We then ordered the River's Rising salmon sandwich with a side wedge salad, and Sweethaven salad with feta instead of goat cheese. Wow! The salmon was cooked perfectly and the wedge salad was very good. The Sweethaven salad came with goat cheese, so I had to send it back for one with feta. I'm not sure if the first salad had as many ingredients as the second one, but that one had tons of cheese, walnuts, and cranberries. I would order this over and over. Our companions had the Jardin salad with shrimp and the Cemita fried chicken sandwich. They were disappointed that 3 shrimp were an extra $6, and I noticed that the chicken sandwich was pretty small (however our friend didn't complain at all). We all liked the atmosphere of the place, both inside and out. We all agreed to return and tell our friends all about it!

we have gone to this restaurant several times. the food is good, but everything else is lacking majorly. I feel really bad for the managers. the hostesses are terrible - they can't figure out how to do a reservation, and they lie on the phone saying they are booked up (when they aren't). several times we have went, the hostesses are telling everyone that walks in that there is a 45-60min wait, then end up seating people within 5 min, as if they have no concept of time, which causes many people to walk right back out the door. the past couple times we have been, the servers are too busy talking and checking their phones to actually do their job. latest visit, we watched our food sit in the window for 10 minutes while the server was talking with other servers and checking their phones. recently they raised their prices, and now they are nickle and diming for everything - want mayo or ketchup for your fries, that's an "extra sauce" charge. sad. the manager's should really review their staffs before it kills this restaurant.

So I love supporting and eating local. So I was excited to give Tela a shot tonight, as it was my last night in Cincy for a while.

First it's a cute place with plenty of dining/bar seating. Decent parking ava. As I walk in I notice the restaurant is maybe at 50% seated with no wait (Wed @ 7pm). I immediately sit outside and my waiter (joe) comes up and provides a large bottle of water.

After looking over the menu I decided to go for 2 of their signatures the (Poutine and The Multibeast). Now my expectation if you have 2 signature type dishes they should be perfect every time, otherwise what's the point??

First the Poutine! Imo the star of this dish is the sunny side up egg. Everything tasted fine but the egg was way overcooked and was closer to fried vs sunny side up.

Next my burger. When I was ordering Joe specifically asked if some "pink" was ok. I responded with I'd like it medium ( so quite a bit of pink)...Needless to say my burger was Well done with no sign of pink at all. Now while not my favorite I'll deal with a well done burger if that's all that's ava, but YOU'RE a GASTROPUB! It's not that hard to not overcook a burger

Now the kicker, remember I said they weren't that busy; maybe 50% capacity? Well it took close to 45min to get my food. Well at least the mystery is solved on why it was overcooked.

Lastly when I showed how my burger he apologized and offered to have it made again. Come on it just took 45 min to get it why do I want to wait another 45 mins?

When I get my check no apology, no discount or comp for a burger I didn't even eat half of and NO MANAGER to apologize for the long wait or overcooked food.....

Needless to say I am highly disappointed. I know the importance of great service and great food for a small local. Joe was kind enough but got to make it right, could have saved the whole...

I went to Tela last night as a part of their $5 Burger special. I had never been and went on high recommendation from friends that I have who live in Wyoming. All of my life I have asked for cheese to not be on my burger. That has never been a problem anywhere I went. Last night I requested for my cheese to not be on the burger, and the waitress infringed me that they don't do any substitutions on the $5 Burger because of the high demand for it. Anything else at full price on the menu could have the Cheese left off though. Keep in mind that at this time, at 9 p.m., the restaurant was nowhere near full. So I look at her and I say that I don't want any substitutions, I simply want the cheese to not be put on. She informs me that they can't do that and that she's just the messenger, and it isn't her decision. So I think about it for a second, then realize that for the first time in my life, I'll be asking for the manager. she says she doesn't think it will help but she will get him. So he saunters over and says that they usually don't make concessions, because the cheese adds so much flavor to the Burger, but they will in my case. I couldn't give a rat's ass about the cheesy flavor.

Not even from inexperienced, juvenile workers from McDonald's or other fast food restaurants of the like have I received such terrible service. I will not ever be returning to this establishment and I implore you to support other businesses that have common sense...
