Tom's On Main — Restaurant in Yazoo City

I ended up here as it appeared to be the only decent place in all of godforsaken Yazoo City. To begin, the house chips made me very happy, and the fried cheese curds and sauce were delicious. However, the entree menu seems to be invented by someone who isn't trained, and is simply guessing at what "gourmet" food is supposed to be. Apparently the kitchen can only do one sauce well, because 90% of the dishes come with bernaise sauce. And the portions.... Holy Toledo, the portions are twice what they should be, and presented as a gargantuan piece of meat on a bed of something suspicious, covered in a mess of random vegetables. The au gratin potatoes really were rather scrumptious, however, and I would've taken a whole plate of just those. I hate to say this, but everything else tasted as if it had been cooked from frozen. The veal (which I had) was grainy and soggy, and generally rather unappetizing. I didn't investigate dessert or wine choices, though they admittedly looked good. At any rate, this restaurant has cute decor and decent options. Maybe go for a steak here, or whatever looks like it has the best chance of being fresh and not a smothered mess. There aren't any better options in the area to my knowledge, but that's mainly because there just isn't anything...

I’m new to the area due to my career and I’m not a resident so I drive an hour daily. I recently visit this place due to hearing about it from co workers and I went on a break for take out (which I called in) I am not sure if the treatment was due to the color of my skin but it sure felt that way. The gentleman that received my money threw my receipt in my hand and definitely didn’t greet me in such of a positive manner. I felt really offended and hurt. This same gentleman treated my co workers and I harshly the day of my birthday which was a week ago. So this recent time I decided to give it another try and maybe he was having a bad day but as the receipt was thrown in my hand as if I’m a filthy person or awful person was the final straw for me. I did not say anything or cause a scene (not my character) I just mentioned the incident to my coworkers and they felt bad for me due to me being alone and not from the area.

As far as the food I’ve only had the burger each time and it was good no complaints there.

Very cute establishment. Food was OK nothing really to brag about. My friend had the hamburger steak plate with mashed potatoes, green beans and banana pudding. I had a bacon burger with french fries. Hamburger steak, green beans and mashed potatoes were good but the mashed potatoes did taste like they came from a box. The hamburger was OK. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a bacon burger with half a piece of bacon on it. The burger also had a plastic bread tie inside of it. My biggest complaint was the service. She seemed very rushed to take our order and get our drinks and bring us our food, but we never saw her again after that we were confused on how to pay for dishes, after sitting for quite some time we walked up to the counter and was asked what we had and we were able to pay where he handed us cash for the tip, which was very confusing. I guess we were supposed to leave it on the table. This place seemed to lack direction and...
