Abelardo's Mexican Fresh York — Restaurant in York

Our first visit to this restaurant was interesting. Us and another couple ate supper on a Monday evening, around 7:30 p.m. There was one other table of people, so not busy. We ordered and received our food within a few minutes. Every order was an enormous amount of food. The quesadilla, the fajitas, the burritos, everything with a tortilla had, what looked like, a 15" homemade tortilla. They were huge, so you can understand how every order was just a whole lot of food. All the meals were served on Styrofoam plates, although I'm not sure exactly what would have worked better for a fast food restaurant. It was just odd to have so much food piled up on flimsy Styrofoam. The table and bench seats were clean, but if you looked close, where the table met the wall and the edges of the table, it was chunky dirty; and the women's restroom was not very clean.

The oddest thing about our dining experience was that the entire hour we were in the dining area, the restaurant employees (one at a time) would walk to the men's restroom (one open room, not more than one stall), jiggle the presumably locked door knob, and then converse with someone in the restroom. This went on for the full hour we sat in the dining area within direct line of sight to the men's restroom door. At one point, we believe a set of keys was slid under the door. All the employees we saw were male. They had to use the women's restroom on occasion as the men's restroom was occupied by someone who was not coming out. I hope the guy that was in there is okay, and that every time the employees came and jiggled the door knob, that they washed their hands before handling food.

Overall, the food and the service was alright, but nothing spectacular; and the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. We likely will not...

PRICES ARE GREAT..! VERY FAST SERVICE..! BUT 100% HONESTY..! We would spend at least $125 with a $25 tip @ LEAST ONCE A WEEK... We still ended up getting NASTY OLD TASTING meat...! &l Lettuce has been frozen many times...ALL MEAT & NO VEGGIES...! THEY Started charging us extra $$$ For stuff that they had been giving us 4 free! They treated us as though they were upset that we could not speak Spanish back to them...! We did get sick of the attitude so We started using our phone to translate In Spanish to them ...! Much better attitude! Suggest That Everyone Do This...! I know this place WAS GREAT 100% of the time the first year they got with us ..So there's potentia... I FEEL that (IT'S JUST LIKE A LOT OF OTHER PLACES IN YORK) they seem to almost get cocky.... We all need to keep them on their toes, speak up when something goes wrong...so they keep giving great food to everyone 24/7...! LOVE YA & WE WILL CONTINUE TO EAT...

I am giving a one star due to the fact I have came here on multiple occasions just for the birria and I'm a texture person so I don't necessarily like it all in a burrito i just eat it with tortilla chips and cheese so for 5 to 7 bucks depending on the cashier I would go in and get a cup of the birria now I am told "we no do this here" I have plenty of receipts to prove it cause I am obsessed with it and no one else in my home is. So I go thru the drive thru I get the birria burrito with just birria add cheese and I asked for a cup of consumé on the side to dip it in....it was the fat juice on top pure fat no consume and majority of the meat in the burrito was fat so for 18.00 I'd say not the...
