It was our first stop in Maine to grab lunch before continuing on to Scarborough after a 7 hour drive. It was our 1st time there, but also our last. We ordered the whole belly clam platter. The price we paid was way more than other restaurants. The plate was mostly French fries and hardly any clams. Who wants to pay $26 for fries? Definitely not me. If that wasn't disappointing enough, we walk out to our brand new 2019 SUV to leave, and there was a guy on a riding lawn mower directly in front of it cutting the grass. You could hear rocks being discharged from the blades. There were big rocks mixed in with grass where we were parked. My husband waved to the gentleman to get his attention so he could talk to him. The man turned off the mower, and my husband stated to him that the SUV is covered with grass and so much so, he wouldn't be able to tell if it has any ding marks from any rocks that might have been thrown from the mower's blades. The man was extremely sarcastic and said "It's bound to get dirty anyway." There was no talking to him reasonably with his non-caring attitude so we got in our SUV and left. My husband called the restaurant to see if that was the owner on the riding lawn mower cutting the grass by the cars, and she had no clue, but it said it might be one of the two owners. You would think if your going to cut the grass, especially where there are rocks, you might want to do it before the business opens. Makes sense, right? All in all, it was a bad experience between the overpriced low quality food and the disrespect for their customer's vehicles. Not to mention the cocky and sarcastic attitude of the person on the mower. I just hope it wasn't one of the owners...
Read moreHad a hard time choosing between 2 & 3 stars but the bad kind of outweighed the good IMO:
Pros: -LOVELY rustic barn setting, the floors & beams were beautiful -Waitress was very, very nice & helpful (especially to another patron with a LOT of requests)
Cons: -Slowest service EVER -Higher mid priced food that was acceptable, but not worth the charge -Clam chowder had MAYBE a tsp of clams in it, the rest was just potato & broth. While the price was reasonable, again, it was not worth it -Did I mention how INSANELY slow service was...?!!!!
When we 1st walked in there were a few people eating but we stood there an easy 4-5min w/o even being greeted, it was like no one worked there, I even started looking around to see if we were supposed to seat ourselves. Once seated, we waited another 5min for her to return & take our drink orders (a coke & a hot tea), which took 10min to arrive. Very long story short, it took us over an hour to be seated, order & receive our TWO meals consisting of drinks, basket of bread, a clam chowder, broccoli cheddar soup & steak w/potatoes. Of that time, we spent about 10min eating...the REST, was wait time. I could understand better if it was packed but it's Feb.1st...there was 5-6 tables total (most w/only 2-3 ppl) & 2 waitresses, not exactly wall to wall. As for the food, the broccoli/cheese soup was EXCELLENT & the bread was very good. The steak was cooked right & tender but was WAYYYY fattier than a $20 filet should be & the mashed potatoes were good..but I could only eat a few bites b/c of the amount of garlic (too much gives me heartburn) & they didn't say they were GARLIC mashed potatoes. To me, it just wasn't worth the cost & time combination, I will not...
Read moreI have mixed reviews. Jennifer was our amazing bartender. Great personality, knowledgable and fun. It was food truck night and 2 dessert trucks and 1 Mexican and 1 hot dog truck. Mexican didnt have tacos, mind blowing to me. But whatever. So I went into the restaurant to see what they had. I saw steak tip dinner and wraps. So I thought I maybe they can bust me out a steak tip wrap. The 3 guys behind the counter looked at each other and talked about wanting to make it or not. The older guy said yeah I guess I'll make it. Then he looks at me and says we never do that, just so you know. I said oh thats great I really appreciate it as its my first time here. Then the kid at the computer was trying to figure out how to put it in and they said oh theres a button for it right there. Never do that huh, and you have a button for it. So then I got to thinking, whats on this wrap. So I ask. They said ceaser salad. I said you know what, forget about it. No thanks. In conclusion I would never eat there but I would have a drink as long as Jennifer is working. I will go back to check out their live music and see...
