Service: Excellent. Staff is very friendly and attentive. I've eaten here several times each time they staff is friendlier.
Atmosphere: Exactly what you should find with a tex-mex restaurant. Very comfortable, and rarely busy/loud.
Food: I gravitate toward grilled chicken quesadillas and the rice, chicken, and queso plate (arroz con pollo). The chicken is marinated and portioned well. Each plate has a healthy portion of cheese, which balances the flavor for me. These plates do differ from the local mexican restaurant in Muncie (Puerta Vallarta), mainly in the chicken. The quesadilla here is comparable to Puerta, differing in the consistency of the chicken and marinade. The arroz con pollo is much better than Puerta's Iz Special. There is a much better ratio of rice, chicken, and cheese. The chicken marinade at El Rancho also has a better flavor. I personally find the food here to be the best mexican food near Muncie. The only con here, (like many restaurants north of the Mason-Dixon line) is the sweet tea is not quite up to par.
Overall: This is a well kept secret in Yorktown. Much less busy than the places in Muncie, which provides a great atmosphere at any time of day. The lack of a crowd does not mean there is anything negative about the food. Here you will find quality tex-mex and will not be...
Read moreHad lunch after church with my family. Went to use the restroom as soon as we got there. Nats or tiny little fruit flies were everwhere around the urinals. It was difficult to do my business with them flying all around my face. Went back to the table and i did not see any nats. When they brought our food, all of a sudden our table was swarming with those little tint nats, I'm assuming they brought them with the food from the kitchen. It was difficult to eat while swatting nats on a 15 degree day and snowing outside. The sizzling fajita i ordered (texas style) was barely hot. Definitely not sizzling. The pieces of steak were small slivers, the chicken was the same 4 pieces of shrimp...very disappointing...probably will never go back. This place used to be much better. The last several times have gone...
Read moreGenuinely one of the worst experiences my boyfriend and I have ever had at a restaurant. The salsa and queso (which is $5) was watered down so much so that you could barely even tell what it was. My boyfriend ordered enchiladas and noticed some weird colored beef on top so he opened it up and majority of the beef was pink. When we told our server she did not care or offer to comp the meal, she just seemed really annoyed. She turned to me and my meal and said “do you just want a to go box?” She brought the bill back and comped the meal, but it was still somehow $31.83! I couldn’t even finish my meal because of how nauseous I felt and ended up throwing away my takeout box right outside. If you want rude service and undercooked beef go to this place! We will never be back. Save your money and go to...
