I moved out here from Stockton a year ago. Over this past year, I’ve had a handful of Mexican spots and was always disappointed. Places here have good reviews but the food is often BLAND. I considered giving up on Mexican food all together. Definitely seems like places out here cater to a certain type of demographic if you know what I mean.. I was skeptical about this spot but decided to try it. Well I’ve had it twice now and both times I am SATISFIED! The food doesn’t compare to what’s in Stockton but since I’m no longer there and now in YC, I will now only order from this place. I’ve had the asada burrito, asada , asada tacos beans, rice, chips & green chile, and the aqua fresca. The meat is decently seasoned but I LOVE their salsa. I have a high spice tolerance so it’s perfect for me but it seems they use serranos in the chile.. it’s so good. The only bad thing I’d have to say was that I had some chips that were undercooked and chewy. But one chewy chip won’t turn me away from this place. If you’re new to Yuba City I recommend this place. You’re not going to...
Read moreEXPENSIVE! Ordered from here 3 times and NEVER AGAIN! It is waaaayyyy too expensive for Mexican food. I avoid going here simply because of their prices and horrible customer service. Quick example: I wasn't feeling well. They were open and called in to order Caldo de Rez (beef and vegetable soup). The lady told me it was $21.99. I said WHAT? 😯 for soup? She said yes but it's for two people. I said we'll if it is for two people, then that makes sense. Plus, I can share with my kids. With that being said, I still rose an eyebrows to why they would sell soup for two people. But I didn't want to get into it... When I got the soup, It was NOT for two people. It fit in one regular size soup bowl, one VERY small scoop of rice, couple lime wedges, little bit of cilantro and onions and 3 tortillas. (3 tortillas does not scream "for two people" nor did the amount of rice and fixings. This girl straight lied to me. I cannot believe I paid almost $25 for ONE bowl of soup. I will never go to this...
Read moreBought a burrito here the other day and it was pretty good. But the price shocked me it was over $8 and it wasn't even that big. I can get a larger burrito at La Unica for cheaper. What is going on with all the Mexican restaurants charging so much. I went to Tortilla Flores a few weeks ago and they charged over $9 for one and it was so small. Oh well I'll just stick with La Unica for now on.
Update September 2024: Well, it's been at least four years since I've been here and it seems a lot has changed. I don't know if it is still owned by the same owner, but they have gotten rid of the self serve chips and salsa. The food is great and plentiful at least what I order. I noticed the price for a two item plate is priced reasonably and it is a very large plate of food. I have been back a few more times since my 4 year absence and will continue to consume their...
