Where to begin? Krell's East Coast Delicatessen is a treasure and Oklahoma is fortunate to have this gem of a deli! Our meal began with a complimentary plate of pickles, bread and butter, dill spears and green tomatoes, all exceptional and complimented the food perfectly. The Rueben was the best I've ever had the pleasure to experience and the roast beef sandwich was flavorful and tender served with a side of au jus (I recommend an extra side of the AMAZING horseradish sauce). The steak fries and onion rings were cooked to perfection (try them with a side of their famous ranch dressing made in-house). Don't forget dessert! We had the banana pudding cheesecake and WOW, thick crust on the bottom to enjoy, topped with whipped cream and just such an absolute delight. If you're a banana pudding lover, ya gotta try this. It was nice to see true east coast deli items available like hamantashen, noodle kugel, black and white cookies, matzo ball soup, Taylor pork roll, Cooper sharp American cheese, and so much more. With imported meats, cheeses, breads, bagels, Krell's is a food lover's paradise. Dr. Brown's soda? Large selection. The general manager Gerry was very pleasant and helped us figure out the menu and answered all of our many questions. They also serve breakfast all day and he recommended The Uncle Mike breakfast sandwich on an English muffin, along with their selection of bagels. Chef Jonathan Krell is "krelling it" in Yukon, Oklahoma with this delicatessen so if you're a foodie and seek the highest quality, put this place on your list! Everything is made from scratch and you can definitely tell. The casual vibes, cool art on the walls, great music playing, generous portions, extreme cleanness of the restaurant and friendliness of the staff and owners will have me coming back over and over, and bringing people with me! Thank you Krell's for a fabulous dining experience, see...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYesterday I drove from Clinton to Yukon for work, where my beautiful, esteemed colleague slash boss, Kim Rozzell, treated me to lunch at Krell's. She mentioned that she heard the banana cheesecake was amazing, so we each ordered a slice with our lunch. The service was great, the staff friendly and knowledgeable, and the food was divine. I was so full from a delectable cup of the savory turkey pot pie soup and half of my Turkey Special Sandwich (on marbled rye with Russian dressingš) that I could only manage 2 mouth-watering, life-changing bites of their soon-to-be famous banana cheesecake. I packed it up to-go, and we headed out. I had just finished telling Kim that if I forgot this cheesecake in her fridge I was driving back to Yukon for it, when tragedy struck.
I misstepped while trying to balance my to-go containers, and sent my cheesecake tumbling to the ground! The whipped topping splattered across the floor in calamity resembling a lightly sweet and fluffy crime scene. Truly a devastating and unforgettable sight.
However, before I could even fully grasp the severity of my misfortune, the owner, (whose name I believe was Jonathan?), took pity on me and offered to pack up a second piece. He sent it home with me in a paper bag, I assume to prevent future catastrophe, which was both thoughtful and compassionate. I originally intended to share this āextraā piece with my stepdaughter and husband, but it was too delicious, so I ate it standing in my kitchen after they went to sleep.
Thanks for going above and beyond, Krellās. I canāt wait to try the Philly and next time Iāll be sure to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate : Portion size position of meat and prices have me in mourning. Part of me wants to rate lower even because the price has climbed even higher. 19 for a philly... a sogged out barely cheesed steak and the Cubano 15 not even close to what I remember. Other than poor distribution of meat take two bites and the rest is bread or grainy tough pork. No pickles, and just bread that needed more toasting and butter. Just an overall dry sandwich. I would have pressed the shell of the bread on the panini when toasting as well instead of flipping the bun inside out. However, I was able to set aside my feelings for the price and rate it only on the food wich sadly was lacking. Old review: I ordered my sandwich to go, I had groceries in the trunk, and I had to get them home. In the bag was the pastrami and swiss on rye sandwich and a side of pickles. Pickles were great besides the spears, which were mushy. The pickled tomatoes were very good and a nice break from the usual. I will never understand why sandwiches have to be restructured. Why put all the meat in the center, other than for presentation. Looks like a lot more meat until you get to the end, which is why I redistribute the meat when I see this. Second issue the bread was sandy feeling, making it much more dry in my mouth. I went ahead and smeared some butter on it and set in the pan, after a few turns you can see the difference it made in the pics. A good sandwich. I will go back to try a few other sandwiches and see about buying the meat...
