10-18-21 Negative 5 stars ! My decision to come here was based on their raving reviews (4,9 score out 5 is really rear). I was super hungry and did not have much time, so I clicked on the first place with the high score, read just one review and made a BIG MISTAKE to visit it. I wanted to eat in and grab some for to go. And made another mistake of ordering everything at once, should’ve eaten there first and then decided if it was worth it to get something to go. So I ordered a beefsteak (and was told that it was a good choice). I also ordered some noodles cause don’t like eating plain rice. And for to go I ordered their party BBQ plate, half chicken / half pork. That was a MAJOR MISTAKE ! You may check the attached pix. The chicken was burnt so badly that I had to leave 3 legs right there. I forced myself to eat one so I may decide if it even worth taking for the road. I chose the least burnt one and fortunately was able to finish it (a little bit dry). Same issue with the pork BBQ, way over grilled and dry. The WORST thing was my steak (remember, I had been told it was a good choice). It was VERY HARD to chew and WAY OVER SALTED !!! I will refer you again to the attached pictures. You may see it yourself, the “quality” of their food and the amount I left there cause it was inedible. I was charged the full amount ($70+) even though told the waitress from the beginning that the steak was too salty… I’m sure I’m gonna throw half of the BBQ I got to go, but had no choice, cause I’m in a hurry and don’t have time to find anything else. The best part of this meal were noodles (though I had been told it would come with some veggies and there were none). I have no idea how they had managed to have so many stellar reviews… They may deserve one star only because the waitress was nice and friendly and the place was...
Read moreI am half pinay, and I grew up eating Filippino food.
Summary: The only thing worth ordering is the Pork Inasal. It’s barbecue pork on a stick. The only other reason to order from here is if you want to try some unique cuisine, but I DO NOT think this is a great example of our cuisine. Our cuisine can be much, much better than this.
Attached picture is lumpia that cost $1 on DoorDash. It is TINY. They use incredibly small lumpia wrappers and I felt that the pork filling needed salt and or soy sauce. They also default to using some spicy banana sauce (I didn’t get any option) which is sad, because I think plain banana sauce is wayyy better.
All of the food is quite bland compared to what I know and cook, as taught by my full Filippina mother.
Adobo - very pale and flavor is not strong. I imagine the cvs Ickes is par-cooked bland for use in different recipes, so it doesn’t have a lot of time to soak up adobo flavor. I still liked it tho. Chicken was cooked through and tender. It needed some thick adobo sauce, or something to make it more… bold.
Pancit - alright, but nothing special. Also bland, one tiny thin lemon for the whole serving.
Lechon- quite lame. Tasted very unseasoned, had been sitting out a bit so the skin was chewy, and MANY parts were over cooked to the point that it was inedible hard jerky.
White rice on the side was cooked WELL. It was actually pretty soft and cooked through! Most places get it too dry so it’s not soft.
Fried rice was VERY plain.
Everything felt like the recipe needed 40% more soysauce and garlic.
I’d rather go through the work of making lumpia myself. This place just isn’t worth it besides the bbq pork. They must use a glaze on it before bbq because it is VERY...
Read morePicked up a week long Pet Sit here in Yuma because of its close proximity to visit my Dentist south of the border. While searching for places to eat, Hawaiian BBQs always grab my attention first. That's how I found Ludi's Pacific Barbecue and I'm really glad I chose to eat here. The Staff is super friendly and helpful if you have any questions. I selected the Teriyaki Chicken Lunch Special listed on a Chalkboard in the window as you enter and it was delicious. The chicken was perfectly grilled with a bit of char but still moist and tender. The Mac Salad was tasty and the sticky Rice was cooked to perfection and sat on top of a base of teriyaki sauce. I also ordered a small Pancit to go which I ate later for dinner and was surprised to find that it contained veggies, chicken, and shrimp which was an amazing and tasty deal. Located on the end of a Strip Mall, the restaurant is comfortable and active as they serve a mixed of seated and take-out customers. They knew many of their customers names, so it also gave off some neighborhood restaurant vibes. If you live in Yuma or are just passing by, give...
