Honestly from the reviews I decided to check the place as you can get tired of pilaf every meal. I am Korean American so to learn the owner is also Korean as well I can say that honestly he should’ve just stuck with Korean food. I got kuksi soup and honestly it was ok not something I’d eat again as it is a Korean dish and not Japanese. The restaurant could’ve said they were a fusion restaurant. But I mean if you were going to inspire some of your cuisine into Japanese dishes why is there no gimbap? Uzbeks love meat and so to not display any real Korean style fried chicken I am left shocked. Boy you know us Koreans we love them spices so it’s sad there wasn’t anything there to really elavate flavors up.
The sushi was ok interpretation to be honest. I got a fried roll and the outside batter has no flavor. The inside was ok.
Upstairs smells like a cigar house so not pleasant to eat at.
Overall it’s ok but maybe my standards are too high but I mean when you’re paying 120,000 for a full role which is like $10 plus having to pay 15% service fee in a country where everything is fairly cheaper I would expect more cause those are American prices for authentic Japanese rolls.
Would I come back? No. But I can understand why so many customers come back as this might be the only Japanese food they’ve ever had so they might not know and most of the customers are Russians and maybe the taste is catered to people’s certain tastebuds.
Overall it’s ok but just not for me as I am picky when it comes to Asian food as I know Asian profiles especially Japanese and Korean cuisines as I am from...

We had a wonderful experience at Katana in Samarkand. This Japanese restaurant offers not only high-quality sushi, but also a great selection of other dishes like wok noodles, chicken dishes, and especially the spicy chili chicken — absolutely delicious!
What really made our visit special was the outstanding service from Aliana, (maybe we write the name wrong) She was incredibly attentive, professional, and made us feel very welcome. Her warm attitude and excellent service truly stood out.
Everything we tried was flavorful and well-prepared. Highly recommended if you’re in Samarkand and looking for great Japanese food with excellent...
Read moreGreat place when you want a break from Uzbek food. The owner is Korean and the menu is very good, we tried lots of different things and the quality was excellent, from sushi to Tom yam they delivered on authentic flavours. The star of the show for us was crispy aubergine dish - dressing was sublime and we’re still talking about it. They have selection of wine mostly or exclusive Uzbek, very cheap. My only suggestion is to get rid of a jewellery and cosmetics stand as it’s just...
