Big loss of time
No English descriptions anywhere.
Nothing so relevant to take a taxi from the city center. A lot of dresses and costume history displayed without a real explanation of the production process/ design characteristics and other interesting insight that somebody would like to know when visiting a proper museum. There is an intro part describing Uzbekistan today but there is no English translation so it is useless. The first part is dedicated to the ancient times but also in here no history description and no path that guides the visitor through the museum. The last part is dedicated to 1940s paintings. These are nice but I would liked to know who did them or if there was a pictorial movement or otherwise I’m asking myself why they are here except for the fact that they are nice. I...
Read moreI'm a museum lover, but unfortunately cannot recommend it.
Pros: It has some interesting artifacts. If well curated, with information and better displays, it could be worth going. The reception staff was nice.
Cons: Almost all the lights were turned off. Very dark. No explanations. Not near any other attractions. The textile section was closed. It seems that they are doing some renovations. There were 20+ people in the museum but none of them were visitors. But not all were workers either. Prevented me from admiring the artifacts at ease.
They should take these artifacts to the Afrosiob Museum, have someone properly curate it and make a nicer...
Read moreIt is really not a bad museum. However, except for what it had inside, everything was weird. It seemed like the museum administration made visiting harder for tourists. There is no and written in English. Nobody could speak English. Moreover, there was no payment option for a card. They accept only cash, which is strange as it is an official institution. Besides this, you can only pay in Uzbek SOM. They don't accept US Dollars at all. Overall, I wouldn't recommend putting it on your travel list...
