Silk 96 Wine&Lounge — Restaurant in Tashkent

We visit this place from time to time, perhaps every 6 months, so I can’t say we are regular guests of this restaurant. We used to come here more often few years ago, but then there were more new cafes and we kept on trying them )) Anyway, this time we ordered 2 bottles of wine 2 salads, water/sodas and 4-5 lams kebab/shashleek. The total we paid 2.4mln or 200usd for 4 of us. It was their anniversary, so they also provided us with 2 compliment cocktails. Kebab was delicious, not the best one I had tried but fine. Sweet eggplant salad was really delicious indeed, in their own special cooking way. However, the other one with avocado, cucumber, green salads, was rather strange to taste. Nevertheless, the restaurant was full. The service was medium, we had to ask for the waiter several times, at times it seemed they serve faster their regular guests rather than us, seldom ones… Overall, good place for meeting with friends...

I read the reviews and decided to try the restaurant as the images on the web looked for enticing. The welcome is very good and the staff is professional but the cuisine is disappointing. I ordered grilled chicken thighs and got wings. That’s OK but I might as well have ordered in a fast food place.The chicken wings I got were greasy and my side dish of grilled cauliflower and spinach (there was no sign of any spinach) was added to the same dish with a pile of raw onions. The dessert was equally disappointing. The description on the menu looked enticing: whipped caramel, chocolate sauce, cherries. It was badly presented and tasteless. Very kindly and as a show of good customer service I was given a complimentary cheesecake dessert on the house. As for the atmosphere, maybe it is atmospheric if you are seated in the garden outside but this was...

Although the food was ok, our overall experience was disappointing -- especially given the fact that this was our most expensive meal during our 2 weeks trip in Uzbekistan. The atmosphere and quality of the food didn't make up for the lack of service. The different dishes didn't arrive at the same time, so I had to eat my main dish without side dishes, while my partner only received hers 20m later. Same with the drinks. When we ordered digestifs, we were shocked by the small amount, especially given the extremely high price! Btw, beware of the tiramisu, it's just a plate of cream with soaked lady fingers and some jam. To conclude, it's a place with potential but they really need to step up their game if they want to justify...
