The Stonegrill is an institution in Port Vila and comes highly recommended, rightly so. We had lunch here and firstly were taken by the views over the water and islands. We were warmly welcomed and even though we hadn't booked, being lunchtime (ish), it was no problem. I do advise 100% booking for the evening, especially Friday and the weekend. As entree, we both had the Stonegrill Vanuatu beef carpaccio which is hands down the best beef carpaccio I have ever eaten. So thinly sliced you could read a book though it, sprinkled with freshly shaved Parmesan, fried capers and a few dashes of pesto. Absolutely divine. We shall remember it for many a long day. The mains had a lot to live up to but did not disappoint: my partner had the special of Stonegrill white tuna enrobed with sesame seeds, which arrives on the stone and you let it cook to your desired level of done-ness. Sides chosen were kumara mash and veg of the day. The tuna was so good that my partner is still talking about it. My main dish was the special of coconut prawns, so subtly flavoured but delicious with the house dip, skinny fries and fresh salad. I washed it down with a bottle of local cider, which was not sweet but paired beautifully with the prawns. We had no space for...
Read moreThe food and service here is fantastic! We arrived with no reservation, and they only had a couple of tables available in the entrance way that many people walked past, and the staff offered to move the table to the grass area just down from the restaurant without us asking (we aren't fussy!), thinking we'd enjoy a more private space, so this was a lovely touch and wonderful welcome into the restaurant. The staff wanted nothing more than to make sure all guests had a very enjoyable meal. We chose a scotch fillet and sirloin steak which we thoroughly enjoyed after cooking it how we liked on the stone plate. The French green bean sides and vegetable of the day were so tasty, and the champagne sauce is definitely recommended! We thought it was going to be really expensive, but the meal was actually very reasonably priced and matched the experience, atmosphere and service. We then had dessert as we enjoyed it so much, and the homemade chocolate raspberry cheesecake and the homemade creme brulé were incredible! Thank you Stonegrill for a lovely meal, and especially to Vicky (name on our receipt) who was exceptional with...
Read moreI have never been to a stone grill restaurant before so this was a new experience for me and I loved it. This French owned restaurant sits atop a hill overlooking the bay and is a perfect spot for an amazing dinner. We both ordered the surf and turf scotch fillet with prawns and chose the champagne sauce - Amazing!! Each meal comes with 2 side, I has a chips and mash sweet potato. My parter had chips and salad which was fresh and delicious. Our cuts of meat were perfect and did not dissapoint. We chose to compliment our meal with a bottle of 555 shiraz wich was delicious and not over priced. For desert we went with a traditional affogato, again amazing. And our meal was topped off with a complimentary caramel liqueur. We did not have a reservation, however we went in early, around 4.30pm, so we were accommodated, but I do highly recommend booking as the restaurant filled up very quickly as the evening progressed. The atmosphere of the restaurant was beautiful with very attentive staff who made our evening very enjoyable. It was a perfect way to end our day. I highly recommend a visit if you...
