"Bếp Của Ngoại – where every bite feels like a hug from your Vietnamese grandma"
Some places serve food. Bếp Của Ngoại serves memories. The kind of food that instantly transports you to a family table, where every dish is cooked with patience, love, and just the right amount of magic. If you’re looking for over-the-top plating or some fancy molecular gastronomy nonsense, turn around. This is real Vietnamese home cooking, and it hits harder than nostalgia.
The thịt kho here is slow-braised perfection—chunks of pork so tender they practically melt, swimming in a caramelized sauce that demands to be poured over rice and inhaled immediately. The canh chua is a full-on flavor bomb, balancing sweet, sour, and savory in a way that makes you question every watered-down version you’ve had before. And the bánh xèo? Crispy, golden, packed with the perfect ratio of shrimp, pork, and bean sprouts—so good it should be illegal.
The place itself feels like walking into a family home. No frills, no forced authenticity, just warm lighting, old-school charm, and the smell of something delicious simmering in the kitchen. The kind of spot where you sit down for a quick meal and end up staying because it just feels right.
If you love real Vietnamese food, cooked the way it’s meant to be, Bếp Của Ngoại is non-negotiable. Come hungry, bring friends, and be ready to eat like you’re part...
Read moreReally good home cooked food. Everything that we ordered was so flavorful. We had the beef soup (Canh cua bo), Fish in clay pot, (Ca loc kho to), steamed vegetables (Rau cu luoc), Pork belly and quail eggs (Thit kho to). The fish and pork belly had a similar caramelized brown sauce; similar to a Filipino adobe with a little bit of spice. The beef soup was mild with vegetables, pineapple and rice noodles. The vegetable plate consisted of steamed carrots, squash, broccoli and okra. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Great quality food, excellent service and...
Read morePoor dish portions. Everything was soooo little (not even enough for one person per dish). Look at how thin the fried fish was cut. So you’ll have to order many dishes. Squid dish was not fresh because the squid felt falling apart in your mouth. The fish dishes were all frozen fish with some ketchup or Vietnamese sauce on it. They have big space and there are many guests but the foods here are not worth it. Also their staffs were slow. I ordered an extra cup of ice tea and had to called them 3-4 times and waited for ~20 minutes.
It was a disappointing...
