🌟 Authentic Hue Cuisine at Its Best! 🌟 Non Hue is an absolute gem for anyone looking to experience the rich culinary heritage of Hue. The variety of dishes here is incredible — almost every iconic dish from the ancient capital is represented, and each one is beautifully presented and bursting with flavor.
🥢 What We Tried (and Loved!): • Nem lụi Huế (Hue Lemongrass Pork Skewers): Juicy pork grilled on lemongrass stalks, served with fresh greens, pickles, and a rich, nutty sesame dipping sauce — authentic and flavorful. • Bánh bèo (Steamed Rice Cakes): Soft, delicate cakes topped with crispy pork skin, dried shrimp, and fried shallots. Served with a light sweet-savory fish sauce — absolutely addictive. • Gỏi (Vietnamese Salad): A vibrant dish with shredded veggies, prawns, herbs, and crispy shallots, paired with a zesty dipping sauce. Refreshing and packed with textures. • Bánh khoái (Hue-style Pancakes): Crispy golden crepes stuffed with shrimp, pork, and bean sprouts — a must-try, especially with the thick peanut-hoisin sauce. • Gỏi cuốn (Fresh Spring Rolls): Light and fresh rolls packed with shrimp, herbs, and vermicelli, served with both peanut and tamarind sauces. Clean and satisfying.
🪷 Atmosphere:
The décor is what truly sets Non Hue apart — the ceiling is adorned with beautifully hand-painted nón lá (conical hats), giving the place a warm, nostalgic, and artistic Hue vibe. From the traditional altar to the vintage-style objects and wall displays, everything feels thoughtfully curated to reflect...
Read moreLittle bit surprised by the reviews on here. Our visit was NYE.
The dishes we tried: the first was the 8 hour slow cooked beef noodle soup - the broth had some flavour but we've had much better at local eateries and found it bland.
We also tried the noodle salad, with a side sauce that was very thick, and whilst tasty, wasn't really working with the salad. Finally we had the hue pancake - served with the same dipping sauce. It personally wasn't for me, but it was my first time trying this dish so it might be personal choice. I found the texture of the mushy egg mix on the inside but crispy outside a bit odd. I will try elsewhere and see if it improves!
Service was pretty poor when we visited, including them placing our third dish on a table behind us because the tables are so small, and doing nothing (like bringing an extra table next to us) to enable us to eat the dish without standing up, moving over and splitting it into two small bowls. There was also quite a lot of rubbish on the floor, including: plastic bottles, beer caps, napkins and...
Read moreWOW. I wasn’t even particularly hungry when I walked past this restaurant but one look at the menu was enough to lure me in. Who knew there was SO much more to Vietnamese Cuisine then Pho and Banh Mi 😅. I felt like Vietnamese royalty eating here. The “popular platter” is just 60k and includes EIGHT different types of traditional Hué dishes. The 3 types of “Loc” were my favourites - I love the chewy gelatinous texture paired with the delicious meat inside. My least favourite was the Beo purely because I’m not a big fan of pork skin - but that’s just a matter of preference. Love how much detail the Menu goes into the dishes and where they originate. I highly encourage everyone who visits Hue to try out this restaurant - I’ll likely be back tomorrow to try the mega “Set Hue...
