SHANTARAM — Restaurant in Nha Trang City

I really don't get the hype. Maybe the pizza is fantastic? Quality seems very depending on what you order. In any case I ordered a chicken club sandwich. It was cold at arrival to the table. The toast was not crispy at all but completely cold and rather chewy/doughy. The sandwich was in fact cold all the way through. The French fries that came with it had a very overpowering flavor of oil so old that a car mechanic would have rejected it. My wife's grilled red snapper on the other hand was very much a decent dish. Flavors were all there and the fish seemed fresh. It came with a coleslaw to my wife's liking and a side of rice. No complaints there. Service was not top speed. We waited about 30minutes for the sandwich which was nesrly half eaten before the fish finally arrived. This I spite of us being the only customers! The location and looks of the restaurant is quaint and actually rather pleasant. However this does not make up for the very poor club sandwich and fries and only half ok service. Not even though the prices are really ok for a western (Russian) owned restaurant. I can only speak for myself off course, and I won't be coming back. My final verdict. Not worthy of the review score and not worthy of the price even though not at all that expensive. I can only assume that the large Russian community in Nha Trang give great reviews in solidarity with their countrymen. Or the restaurant had a very bad day. Something that really never happens to any good...

We have been here several times, and it's pretty consistent. The pizza is decent, and Mexican is ok. Great service and cold beer.

I had to update this review as we recently stumbled on the best pizza we've had in a long time. They have a new chef, and he made a perfect pepperoni pizza that was sent back by another customer.
