Wow Wow West — Restaurant in Singapore

Happened last Sat on 30 Jul 2022. wanted to bring my family to try out botak Jones and duck kway chap at depot Lane for lunch. unfortunately, stalls were either closing or not opened.

Decided to go ABC brickworks and try our luck with good food. so this WWW stall was opened and I heard positive feedbacks, so went to get it.

while deciding on the food options, the stall uncle was polite to tell my mum and myself, the serving portion was huge, sufficient for 3 kids (my niece and nephews). I went ahead and place my order for fish and chips + sausage. I spoke in mandarin and this young lady (who wore a cap) decided to flex her English. Anyways that besides the point, after placing order, she handed me 1 set of fork and knife for 1 PERSON!!! . so I asked for extra plates and cutleries, since there are 3 kids with me. I got a straight reply "NO" and to help myself with the cutleries behind her. I looked behind her, obviously there wasn't, but on her right were disposable fork and knives on the table. so I presumed those were only for takeaways.

I saw there were steel knives and fork behind the cashier machine but was covered with towel, so while holding my nephew hand and other hand with the cutleries, I told my mum to help herself with the steel cutleries.

what happened next was ridiculous, as my mum was about to take the cutleries, removing the towel, this same young lady shouted very loudly and rudely twice at my mum, "EH!! AUNTY!!!". 2nd time was even louder. I was taken aback, the customer placing order was, the uncle which I guessed was her dad was also. basically everyone, even customers sitting around that stall turned to look at her. even the soya bean stall aunty across looked over.

it took me a few seconds to realize she was telling at my. mum. I stared at her and apparently, the stall aunty, which I think was the mother of the young lady saw my expression. and she took out some lollipops and handed over to my niece and nephews. I guessed stall aunty was quite apologetic, hence the small token.

and really to me the food is average only. nothing fancy, and the fish meat is quite mushy. anyways, I won't be visiting this stall anymore.

Definitely NOT the real Wow Wow West! Deserves a 0 star! Our worst dining experience as an elderly. Went with wife at 5pm. Ordered 2 chicken chops to eat and 1 for takeaway. Paid and given 2 pairs of plastic fork & spoon. Request for a plate or tissue to hold these utensils was rudely ignored. They expect us to hold the utensils in our hands! Saw everyone holding the utensils too, definitely unhygienic. There was no q behind me and they were preparing some taupau orders. The q only started to form 10 mins after my order.

We waited 30 mins & was served 1 order. Waited another 30 mins and 2nd order was ready. I inform them (x2) to get my takeaway ready as we eat our food. It was getting crowded and we just wanted to finish the food n go off. When completed, our takeaway was still NOT ready. I approached de man (maybe de boss) to explain but he RUDELY SHOUTED at me to wait, like everybody else. Very arrogant and abusive with his words, only want everyone (incl his workers) to listen to him and wait for their food. He was fierce & continued shouting throughout! Everyone was watching. I have waited more than 1.5 hr now. If the store cannot handle, just refund and cancel the order, no problem. After waiting another 30mins, my packet was finally ready. Overall, nearly 2hrs for 3 chicken chops, individually served & a notorious man!

Taste wise, the chicken chops are not-fresh, dry and tasteless. Have a hard time chewing the chicken, let alone using plastic utensils to cut such tough meat. We obviously did not finished the meat. We r very sure these are the frozen food and not marinated properly. The sauce was bland, seems like water with some powder ingredients, don't know what taste it is. The meat size is not comparable to the real WWW. This STALL is definitely NOT the Original one!

Our first time facing such a badly managed stall and extremely rude boss, a business that don't value her customers. Will NEVER GO BACK to this...

Just filter “lowest rating” on their Google reviews and you’ll see what I mean. Bear in mind this was years ago but I remember it as clear as day. I sacrificed my portion of coleslaw/salad and baked beans for extra tartar sauce (as agreed with the lady who took my order) to go with my fish and chips but the amount of sauce given was the same as my friend’s portion who did not surrender his greens and beans. Upon asking the stall for more tartar sauce (take note that I kindly and politely asked, rightly so), I was interrupted by the great big grumpy elderly male boss whom I did not even have any interaction with while I was ordering. He immediately raised his voice in front of so many people and rejected any request of mine for extra tartar sauce. Can you imagine? All that commotion and anger from the boss over tartar sauce? I have been patronising their stall for many years since I was a teen but somehow or rather, they (I have no choice but to group them all as one since they are family) chose profit over longtime customers. I went there once after this incident but I really couldn’t forget nor stomach the grumpy old boss’s mood and temper. I never forgave them even till today. Food is average and after they changed their tartar sauce to their homemade one, you can forget about going there (yucks). For those staying in the west, Tom’s Kitchen at Taman Jurong is so much better than them. Seriously Tom’s Kitchen tastes so much better without needing any sauce! Anyway, don’t believe me on the bad review? Just filter “lowest rating” on their Google reviews and you’ll see what I mean.
