[August 2023] They have off menu weekend specials and display the real food to you at your table. It was totally a gimic and the food is just average. Just order the standard dish from menu and it taste waaaay better.
Black pepper pork chop bun 黑金荷叶包: off menu item. Look fancy and expensive. But come in sweet sour sauce without black pepper taste. Yet slice the tiny bun into 2. So difficult to eat. Not worth the money, taste lousy. 别踩坑!
麻香肉饼: off menu item. Another fancy dish. Just minced meat with thai sweet cili sauce. Like the one in supermarket. 别踩坑!
芋香蒸排骨 steamed pork ribs : Recommended!!! Steamed yam is tasteless that just gracfully placed on it. The pork ribs is delicious with fermented black bean 豆豉 seasoning.
[June 2023] Prawn Chee Cheong fun: very smooth. Total 6 prawns which is quite fresh. 3 strips ccf. I like their shrimp sambal which is not soaking in Cili oil.
Prawn dumpling: prawn is fresh. Yet lately the dumpling skin is becoming thicker and thicker.. Especially dries out very fast since the ambience is quite cold and breezy, making the skin tough and chewy. Wasn't hitting the right texture for me.
Siu long bao: most practical to eat it warm. Immediately within 3 min upon serving. The inner soup is becoming lesser compared to last time. Not as satisfying for a slb.
[January 2023] They gave 3 vouchers which ends in short duration. Free xiaolongbao Free signature hainan coffee Rm10 gift voucher
They do not allow stacking of these voucher as per single visits, or seperate bills, or seperate tables, or revisiting on the same day again. Well, technically they wouldn't know but you can do it without their conscience. Pretend to come in as 2 strangers and redeem it and leave.. Hahaha. But if they came to know, they'll will reject it no matter how.
I would suggest they give it seperately on several visits and not 3 at one go. And their management style doesn't make sense and unjuctice to the customer. Really need to buck up on this. Want to give free stuffs but stingy to give. What's the point.
Last but not least, weekdays stir Fry radish was good due to less crowd compared to weekend bulk cooking. Wok hei and the char edge is on point. Good food.
[December 2022] Went around 830am with almost full crowd on weekend. Mostly family crowd with bigger headcount. Place is comfortable with air conditioning and is clean.
Dimsum quality is above average for a neighbourhood breakfast spot. The food quality for stir Fry Carrot cake has dropped since then. Not recommended this. The rest ingredients still fresh and tasty. For hot water refills is self-service situated at the middle pillar. And tissue are provided on the walls. They have free ice cream machines near the entrance as well.
Best to dine while the food is warm. As the serving come by different timing. Price wise is also reasonable. And usually will give you some voucher upon payments for your next visit. The voucher date duration is super short. Haha......
Read moreAn old new hyped up Traditional Dim Sum Eatery.
This place offers traditional Dim Sums but with a small twist. Despite not having a full range dim sum dishes, the food here is good! The service and waiters are extremely attentive and kudos to the team!
I was not very hungry during my visit and i did not ordered too much.
Classic Siu Mai is made using prawns and pork filling which is great. Great texture and taste!
Har Gao was pretty normal as i did not feel high MSG when tasting it.
Loh Mai Kai is okayyyyy, but something is missing. Its not the usual kind of loh mai kai you have out there. Its not too oily but still, something feels missing in the taste.
Chee Cheing Fun looks very cute which is cut into 6 individual portion. The ease of having it is real compared to the chunky big ones you usually have outside. It is not drenched heavily with sauce and it comes with a spicy prawn condiment which goes perfectly together. Smooth and silky in.
Char Siu Pao comes in triplets. The Char Siu filling is not usual too as its not too sweet which is surprising! The only problem i has was the 'smelly flour' they use which they used slighly too much in my personal opinion as you got the pungent smell. Worth to try.
I also tried their Superior Soup dumpling but the soup tasted like chicken seasoning only which was disappointing. Perhaps an improvement from there?
I am always fond of stir fried radish cake and so i ordered one. When it comes, it does not look appetizing as it looks lower than average. Perhaps i like the spicy kick from the chili oil kick to it. I gave a try and was wowed by the taste of the whole dish! It taste better than it looks. Perhaps my personal preference but keep up the good work on this!
One of the most unusual dish i ordered was the Charcoal Lau Sha Pao! The esthethics was as good as it taste! The striking colour was a wow factor!
Final say: Food was great but there are areas to improve. Service was excellent and the ambience is out of the world. Price was slightly higher especially tea, RM7 for a pot. Bring in more choices.. Dai Bao perhaps?
Will you ever...
Read moreReview for Yat Pan Dim Sum (Bukit Rimau):
Yat Pan Dim Sum, easily accessible with ample parking, even on a bustling Sunday morning, has a pleasing interior, though the dining experience doesn't quite match its price range.
The food is a mixed bag. Some dishes, like the Pan Fried Chives Dumpling (which has a lovely 葱油饼 essence), Golden Shrimp Salad, and Glutinous Rice, stand out with their high-quality ingredients and intriguing flavours. However, other offerings fall flat, bringing down the overall culinary experience to merely okay. Although better than street Dim Sum, it falls short of expectations set by other commercial establishments like Jin Xuan. The signature XLB disappoints, but the unexpectedly delightful Lemon Tea lifts the spirits with its smooth, refreshing, and perfectly sweet taste.
Now, about the service: speed isn't an issue here with numerous part-time student staff hustling around, but attention to detail is. Customers are left to self-service tissues and hot water, and there's a disappointing absence of sauce plates.
Hygiene, unfortunately, also leaves something to be desired - grease on utensils and plates being a let-down.
The ambiance, with its well-executed interiors and spaciousness even at full capacity, scores well. However, the overall experience falls short of the mark, especially considering the price. Free soft serve ice cream, a nice gesture, failed to impress due to machine problems, resulting in a melted, liquid dessert.
In conclusion, Yat Pan Dim Sum is a solid choice for locals, but maybe not for those traveling from afar. It lands a solid 3 out of 5 stars overall, with a 3 for service, a 4 for ambiance, and a 3 for food. The place shows promise, but with room for improvements to truly make it...
